For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

If the school itself is 6 or more months, the Navy will pay. That does not include wait time or prerequisite classes. For example, my husband's school (ATO) is 39 days. Before that, he has to take ATT and AWAT and he has to wait forever in between each. They only count the ATO class.

Aircrew usually are here for quite a long time. I would just wait for his orders because that is what will determine if it's a PCS move or if you're on your own. His orders are what will tell you (and the relocation office) if it is a "permanent" move. Once he graduates from BC you'll be able to do a lot more. My husband is ATI so ours was not a PCS move but I definitely recommend moving down here for sure since he'll be here for so long. There are several nice apartments in the area so if you don't qualify for housing, you might want to start looking into that. Sorry I can't be of more help, but it gets a lot easier to figure things out when you can actually talk to your husband again :)

Also, you can try and contact the PAO 847-688-2405 in GL and see what they say. They may be able to tell you what his orders say. When you call them don't get frustrated. There are some people that didn't like the experience of calling there and some did. I called and got the answers I needed. Others did not. My advise is to call a couple of times if you don't get what you need from them. Also, somewhere on these forums is the Commander of GL. Really, he has a profile on Navy for Moms. I just don't know where it is. -
