He is looking forward to it.  He's taking "Maymester" at Trident, and I believe summer quarter as well, but will start the Citadel in the Fall.  He still has to go to the Citadel now for PT with the ROTC.  All so new!

MichPad---The Citadel is a wonderful experience.  Your son should have a great time getting a good education.

Congratulations!  One of my sons friends also got commissioned on Friday, at the Citadel.  My son started his first quarter of classes on Monday.  Just starting the journey!

That's really cool. Thanks Chris and Whitney.
So Whitney, was that his first time to apply when he got picked up?
And so where's he now? Is he done with school already?
What do you think what make him better than the others? :)
Thanks!

The STA-21 program has been in place for a long time.  The stands are very high. There isn't a very long requirement to get into this program. There are two or three people who weren't even completed with their schools before they got STA-21.

My husband was an E5 when he applied for the program he when he had been in 3.5 years. He was accepted while on a humanitarian deployment. Picked a school, got home. Went to program school. Then it was move the AZ. He doesn't like school but he's so successful this time around. He's also looking forward to a nice long career as a Naval Aviator.

Welcome Wynona.  Look at the STA-21 website for details about the program.  The program is open to all enlisted, however, support and recommendations from the chain of command are essential for acceptance.  The program is highly competitive.  Less than 20% of qualified applicants are accepted for any given year.

wow! I JUST found this group. I barely find out the STA-21 program lately also. As they are cutting the tuition assistant, are they still running STA-21 program?
And I have read the whole message from Chris above, and I am just wondering I thought the program is for ANYONE that are enlisted? They don't need to be in the Navy for certain years?

And anyone would love to share their experience from being E-?, join the program, to an officer? :)

Appreciate it. And looking forward to hear all your stories!
