For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

ESWS Pin
My son has been studying for this pin and if I am correct, it is a honor pin that is achieved for being able to do every job on the ship. Has anyone had experience with this?
My son did his A + C school there in Point Loma and it was great for him and us, after school he could go out and explore and on the weekends if he did not have to do duty or stand watch he would be able to come home which is only two hours away.
He is away on deployment and we sent him a package almost three weeks ago and he still has not recieved it.

There is new Navy regs that will make the ESWS pin a requirement. It has been considered an honor and should be in the future, much as the wonderful moment at BC when they call and say "I am a sailor". Not sure of the timing of the new requirement. With our son also on deployment, we have experienced similar time frames for mail. They get mail usually
when they take on supplies. When we send packages we avoid anything breakable or that will melt or explode in high
temperatures (imagine Hershey chocolates melting). But keep sending them - also great when the 'eats' can be shared. -

He passed the written exams last week, next is the oral exams coming soon.

My son just earned this ESWS pin and said that it was a 'big deal'. He is stationed in Japan and has been there for a couple of years. Does anyone know anything about his pin?

I think you can google ESWS and see a photo of the pin. My daughter receantly earned her pin. It stands for Enlisted Surface Warefare Specialist. I understand the exam consists of several parts written and oral. It's my understanding that they are required to know all the jobs on the ship and what they do. It is considered an honor to earn the pin. As someone else said it will be a requirement sometime in the future to pass the ESWS.
