Hmm, I'm still glad to know someone who will be there too :) I'm seriously considering buying a house since we'll be there for so long, it's an investment and a mortgage is the same as rent. A house would have more space too, everything in VA is small!
Hopefully these changes won't affect things with my son, we're still on the East Coast and nowhere near ND. I just need to petition the state with a motion to change my son's permanent residence, the state doesn't care where as long as it's in the best interest of the child (and staying with me and my husband is best.)
Me too! I know another gal whose Husband is stationed there with surface fleet. Our Husbands were in Basic together.
We can't afford to buy a house, at least not yet...But I did find one that we really like we can rent for a decent amount with a fenced yard and really nice. As soon as his orders come in we are gonna call the guy and see about setting up a date to go view it in person. Indeed, small and expensive! Some of the prices are outrageous...
Oh good! I hope it all goes smoothly for you.
Thank you for the suggestions so much! Yes, we do plan on living off base I've heard the housing there isn't a good neighborhood and small, which is understandable with how many people they have stationed there. There is a house we really are interested in if it stays available until we get there. It's in Portsmouth. Is that a decent place? We don't have kids yet but plan on trying here maybe a year or two so I would like it to be a place I would trust for my eventual growing family.
Will you be going to Groton with him after BESS?
I don't "think" we are supposed to be ther long enough to worry about schools but if anything maybe preschool, lol. Goot to know about the area though, thank you :) We are originally from Nevada so this is way different for us.
Yeah, I think most the SECF do too. Most of the other buddies of my Husband have their wives here and they are SECF. I hope you can :)
