I just found this and thought it was cute...

My sailor.Submariner

I love My Sailor so deeply and true

He is my Husband, my Friend and a Daddy too

He chose his fate when signed that line

To become a Submariner and serve his time

As the Submarine is prepped and the workday ends

He comes home to tell me, "It is that time again"

The night before "The Boat" gets underway

We prepare ourselves for that dreaded day

He Packs his sea bag so snug and tight

For it will be time to leave at dawn's early light

With his sea bag across his shoulder

and the tears in his eyes we know it is time for all the goodbyes

My Sailor and his crew are running silent and deep

Protecting our freedom while awake or asleep

For the beautiful flag flies freely in the wind

My sailor will proudly salute it until the very end

I would just ask the instructor. They will be able to tell him what is going on.

strange. hubs did not get assigned his rate till after bess. But this was years ago. I am sure things are different now.
Comment by luvinmatt on February 17, 2011 at 9:21pm

If I am remembering correctly there are more schools after bess. His A school and any other tech schools he needs to go too. You get orders at the end of A school.

@ Lauren there is no such a thing as a typical deployment schedule on Fast Attacks. It varies from boat to boat and can vary significantly. Your best bet would to be to look for someone on the seawolf and see what their schedule has been like.

Does anyone know how long you have to wait after graduation at BESS? When do you get orders?
