I just found this and thought it was cute...

My sailor.Submariner

I love My Sailor so deeply and true

He is my Husband, my Friend and a Daddy too

He chose his fate when signed that line

To become a Submariner and serve his time

As the Submarine is prepped and the workday ends

He comes home to tell me, "It is that time again"

The night before "The Boat" gets underway

We prepare ourselves for that dreaded day

He Packs his sea bag so snug and tight

For it will be time to leave at dawn's early light

With his sea bag across his shoulder

and the tears in his eyes we know it is time for all the goodbyes

My Sailor and his crew are running silent and deep

Protecting our freedom while awake or asleep

For the beautiful flag flies freely in the wind

My sailor will proudly salute it until the very end

I talked with the New London Navy Lodge. I'm a DoD contractor so I can sponsor and get all my guests checked into the hotel. To block 10 rooms I had to speak with the supervisor to ok the group, not an issue at all... in fact, everyone was really helpful. Thanks for your insight ladies! Oh, and anyone visiting Groton, get over to Mystic and check out Olde Mistick Village... a shopping center that looks like a 1720's fishing village, really neat and where I'm getting married! Can you suggest any nice restaurants for our reception in Mystic?

The navy lodge is off base. You will need to have someone with a military ID there to check them in. I am not sure how that would work booking multiple rooms. You should call and ask.

I'm having my guests stay at the Navy Lodge for my wedding, is the hotel actually on the base, or outside? Does everyone need a base pass to stay there, or can I just sponsor them to the hotel?

Yes and it was really nice!

Well there's mystic, which has an aquarium, and a bunch of different shops right next to it, we went to crystal mall, which for some people wouldn't be fun but just being with him was a blast! You can also go to the river walk in mystic, and I read about a sail boat ride, you pack a lunch and it's like 3 hours long. We didn't get to that, though lol and of course new York is super close. Hmm.. What else.. If you stay at the navy lodge, they have a book in the lobby that has everything that's going on that particulAr weekend, like concerts and festivals beaches all that good stuff!

Those of you who visited Groton, what are some fun things to do... you said Mystic is good to visit. I'm getting married and need something planned to entertain my family while I get some alone time with my Sailor :)

What does his orders cut mean?
He updated his page 2, and he's in the process of putting me in DEERS.

Sam, as long as his orders are cut after you were married you should be on them. Make sure he has updated his page 2 and has you in DEERS.
