I just found this and thought it was cute...

My sailor.Submariner

I love My Sailor so deeply and true

He is my Husband, my Friend and a Daddy too

He chose his fate when signed that line

To become a Submariner and serve his time

As the Submarine is prepped and the workday ends

He comes home to tell me, "It is that time again"

The night before "The Boat" gets underway

We prepare ourselves for that dreaded day

He Packs his sea bag so snug and tight

For it will be time to leave at dawn's early light

With his sea bag across his shoulder

and the tears in his eyes we know it is time for all the goodbyes

My Sailor and his crew are running silent and deep

Protecting our freedom while awake or asleep

For the beautiful flag flies freely in the wind

My sailor will proudly salute it until the very end

Janie we are really loving it here. I wish all of my household stuff was here though. IT is a pain not having anything with the kids. Everything is soooo pretty here. I cant wait to be able to get out and explore. To go snorkeling and scuba diving. I really think we will have a good time here.

luvinmatt - They have had to up it to 4 guys per room... kinda crowded now....
Comment by luvinmatt on August 21, 2010 at 7:15pm
They live in the barracks on base usually 2 guys to a room. The rooms are ok kinda like a college dorm room. Hubby said internet is provided but it is garbage. Most guys end up getting their own installed or running off of someones personal network and paying a few bucks to whoever is letting them borrow internet. Ask as many questions as you want. I wish I had a place like this when we were going through it. It would have made things so much easier.

@ Emily one other thing. Try to find a ride from the airport. Providence is like an hour away the cab ride is like 100 dollars. I had to take a cab one from the airport and it was awful. If there is a Ct wives group on here I am sure someone would be willing to help you out. If you are over 25 you might even get a rental car it would be cheaper to rent a car for 2 or 3 days than to pay for one cab trip.

@ Emily. Since you are not married he would need to check you in to the room.

@ Elisabeth you can take personal lap tops on the sub but he wont be able to access the internet while on board with it. He would be able to use it during port calls though. Communication on a sub depends on what kind of boat he ends up on. Fast attacks have the ability to send and receive emails. They are not very reliable and can be delayed quite frequently or not sent at all, but hey when they do come through it is really nice. If he is on a boomer they do have the capability to email but it is VERY RARELY done.

Oh and during training they don't go underway or anything like that. So you should be able to talk to him every night or whenever school is out.

Awsome! That's not a bad price! No, we aren't marriEd yet, so all he would have to do is call to confirm? He wouldn't have to show up to do that?
Comment by Sam (AUX PAC - Groton, CT) on August 21, 2010 at 8:59am
Or you can book the room online, or on the phone.. your Sailor would just have to confirm it before you get there - otherwise, they'll cancel your reservation.
Comment by luvinmatt on August 21, 2010 at 2:45am
ohh and they are 70 bucks a night. Are you guys married yet? If not he will have to book the room for you.
