I just found this and thought it was cute...

My sailor.Submariner

I love My Sailor so deeply and true

He is my Husband, my Friend and a Daddy too

He chose his fate when signed that line

To become a Submariner and serve his time

As the Submarine is prepped and the workday ends

He comes home to tell me, "It is that time again"

The night before "The Boat" gets underway

We prepare ourselves for that dreaded day

He Packs his sea bag so snug and tight

For it will be time to leave at dawn's early light

With his sea bag across his shoulder

and the tears in his eyes we know it is time for all the goodbyes

My Sailor and his crew are running silent and deep

Protecting our freedom while awake or asleep

For the beautiful flag flies freely in the wind

My sailor will proudly salute it until the very end

The Regency Square Mall in Jacksonville is closing down... Just an FYI Half the stores are already closed. If you want to go to a mall that has lots of store you have to go further down We choose to live off base @ the lakes which is not bad but the electric bill is crazy during the summer. I wish now that we lived in housing.

ummmn for our first duty station i am glad we chose kingsbay wouldn't change anything besides our housing lol.. GA was closer to our family as well which made it nice cause we just drove to see them every off crew.

wa is nice it "rains" a lot but it doesn't bother me it is not bad enough to where you need an umbrella i call it produce mist lol.. and it is cold today it got in the 70's and that is the hottest i have seen it get here.. there is a mall close unlike in GA the nearest mall is in jacksonville, fl and that mall is run down but there are others just a little bit of a drive.

what are you looking for in your first duty station? small town or small "city"? shopping places?view? here is very out doorsy like hiking up mountains going on long drives.. by the way Forks, WA yea that was a waste of a trip haha.. just an FYI lol

Emilyloret - My husband left got boot on Dec 16 of last year and he has been here in Groton since Feb. I moved here in April. It sounds to me like that is what your fience is hoping to get for his boat and station. There unfortunately isn't a guarantee on anything. They get there orders when finishing school here in Groton.
navywife - thanks for clarifying that :-) Did you like GA or WA better? I am so torn. He has been asking me what I want him to put as his first choice because he just started his last 4 months of school. GA is closer to family but WA just seems nice.

WA is okay also we are here at the moment before we get shipped out to Guam.. I don't like being cold though haha..

there are 3 different types of subs ssbn (boomer), ssn (fast attack), ssgn (boomer with fast attack schedule)..
Comment by Emily [USS Maryland Blue] on June 24, 2010 at 8:54pm
Janie- Oh okay, i think he's a boomer then, he said something about being in 3 months and out another 3. and yeah on the 22nd, it's so weird not being able to talk to him everyday!! I'm still will waiting on my first letter lol How long has your hubby been in?
Comment by Janie - ProudSailorWife on June 24, 2010 at 8:50pm
emilyloret - I'm still learning as well but for what I understand there's 2 types. Boomers are 3 months in 3 months out and fast attack (is that right??) are out longer periods of time with no exact come home date. They can be out and have a change of mission while out. Some of the more experienced wives may be able to address that better.. So your fience just got to bootcamp?

OH and congrats on trying for a baby, Janie! My mother in law says that its a lot like being a single mother until they come home. you'll have a set routine and then when your hubby comes home, everything goes crazy lol
