Please, please remember before you post: our sons are part of a Special Operations community, even while in training, and it is vitally important to form the habit of not divulging any information that could possibly compromise the safety of any of their members. This would especially apply to names, dates, places, procedures, etc. You might like to read the "Discussion Forum" titled "OPSEC" for some guidance. If you are still in doubt, please ask one of our members for their opinion by private message before you post. We are here to help each other, but we must be careful at all times.

Hi, my son just finished the program. It has indeed had many changes! As far as I know, the pre buds class is a prep class in Great Lakes to get the guys ready physically for Coronado. My memory is that they pushed them hard physically and my guy lived for the weekend breaks to rest and recover. I am not sure, but I believe that they don't wash out anyone at this level but some realize they don't want this kind of life. The class size at this point was around 50. I don't know when your husband had to leave, but if he had already been to Coronado, this shouldn't be a problem for him. The time is meant to show them what they are headed for physically and to see who will be able to withstand that constant physical challenge that is in BCT. Hope that helps!

Hi everyone! Used to be a part of this group 3 years ago when my husband first went to swcc. He left due to a family emergency but he is set to leave again next month to try it again. SO much has changed since he went the first time, I was just wondering if anyone has any insight on the buds prep course they go through now before officially heading to the west coast. Thanks! Hope all is well.

The forecast is for 77°----think hot in the sun, from 11:00am untill about 2:30.....I recommend sunscreen if this is outside. You will not be sorry!
Casual nice, be comfy, no one is going to really care too much, California! As for the dinner, we didn't have that bank in the olden days, or my W didn't offer that event......
Most of all, bring a sweater, a hankie, and a camera!!!!! It's the best day ever!!!!!

Hello Melray, It's semi formal at the most.

If you go to the dinner the night before it's casual/nice

There's lot's of food, so come hungry

Atmosphere is fun and everyone is very nice

The next morning you will be going to your NSW briefing as a parent, so start stripping your social network as soon as possible.

As it's chilly in California on the coast bring some warm clothes.  If your lucky to have sun and not overcast, you should have a very nice day.

Congratulations in advance, and welcome to the family

If you have anymore questions feel free to private message me

Hello, I am new to this group.. My son is in SWCC, I will be flying to California next week for my his graduation. My question is what do we wear?? He said "nice" or " like what you wore to PIR" that's about all I get out of him.. So this is more for my husband should he wear dress slacks and a nice shirt or a suit.. Any help would be appreciated..

Thank you all for the input!  It's great!  Travis this helps so much.  I have been letting them know that I want them to wait so this will give me more to talk to my daughter about.  As for my future sailor, I am so proud of this decision and look forward to seeing him grow and succeed in his new job.  He is very committed to the Navy and is very involved in his DEP program.  I am sure he will make it and be a very valuable part of whatever team he joins.  I am very glad the training is so long and intense.  He is still young and has some growing up to do for sure on his way!

Thanks again everyone  Happy New Year!  I have a feeling I may be calling on all of your knowledge again on this journey!
