Please, please remember before you post: our sons are part of a Special Operations community, even while in training, and it is vitally important to form the habit of not divulging any information that could possibly compromise the safety of any of their members. This would especially apply to names, dates, places, procedures, etc. You might like to read the "Discussion Forum" titled "OPSEC" for some guidance. If you are still in doubt, please ask one of our members for their opinion by private message before you post. We are here to help each other, but we must be careful at all times.

Hi all -- I'm glad to see some new activity on this site! My son arrived at boot camp on Monday. Looking at the boot camp schedule on N4M, I'm worried he's not going to get enough of a workout to maintain his conditioning. Prior to boot camp he was working with a former SEAL/Navy mentor and had a rigorous workout routine. I think he'll freak out if he doesn't run several miles a day! :) Also, our son told us that he would stay at GL for 8 additional weeks after PIR, before going to Coronado. I think he heard this from his mentor.

Thanks Dee - wish my son was one to give me details - never has been that kind of guy though.  It's just nice to be able to communicate with him now after BC.  I'm gonna try and get something out of him - surely they know a little more now than when they first got into A School.  Silly, because I know he's going to go through all kinds of *&^%* in training, but we're from Texas and I was thinking he'd be moving to Coronado before the Chicago winter hits!!  Always a mom, huh?

Hi all, I'm a new member to this group.  I've read a few pages of posts to get a little familiar and Travis66's Primer - wow, guess I didn't have a clue what my "W" will be going through.  Sounds like I'm in the right place for some good answers here.  He is in GL now, 2 weeks into school after PIR.  I believe they've just started training after waiting for other 800 divisions to merge (??)  How long can we expect him to be at GL?

Hey Travis! Our W got home from 3rd deployment last month. You learn to deal with not hearing from them. You learn that no news is ok. You know that they are well trained and competent and that gives you peace. But, you also realize that you haven't really breathed until you hear that voice say, "I am home." We are all so thankful for the presence our guys have in this world that keeps us safe. Thank your sons for their bravery and courage and commitment.

Oh yes....the ole "No news is good news"  we all have to get by on that phrase from time to time!   My son is doing well thanks, alot of active training lately so he is happy with that!   We hope to get out to visit him in the Fall.

My son goes to BC on Aug. 5. He is currently halfway through a 24-hour march that he started at 0500 today. Apparently it is some kind of SpecOps tradition to test his resolve. Anyone ever heard of this? Maybe it's just our recruiting station.

My son is also in Coronado now, is in his third week and it has definitely been a roller coaster ride. I guess he starts BCT next week, he said it will be more intense and less sleep. I honestly don't know how they all do it, I have the greatest admiration and respect for all of these young men.

Tikkie- After boot camp they are allowed to have cell phones and computers. So if I need to talk to my son I just text him and he calls me when he has time.
