Hi Everyone! I haven't posted for awile. My son has the fear in me to me be on here according to his instructors. I love reading all the posts and it is very reassuring to me to have this place to go. My son has started his journey at Coronado and everyday is definitely a roller coaster ride for him but even for me. It's a very intense training they go through! Praying for him every day and Iight my blue candle everyday! I pray for ALL SWCC! They are a group of fine young men!
Your welcome :-)
@Susan1114 in October of last year. My W had 3 days with us after PIR as well and it was great. We did allot of sight seeing.
Susan1114, W stands for "Warrior" Someone came up with that to describe our SWCC in training & beyond.
My son had 3 days with us right after PIR so we were thrilled!
@Tikkie, yes they are allowed to have their cars on base, he will have to register it and get a sticker to put on the car in order to get the car on base. They are also allowed to have their phones, laptops, TV's, xbox.
SWCC staying in Great Lakes for training before going to Coronado will be totally beneficial for them. This is new since my son went through & the more training they get prior to beginning BCT in CA the stronger they will be! :)
Best of luck to all beginning the SWCC journey
@Tikkie, yes they do stay at Great Lakes for more training before going to Coronado. Yes the W's can come home during Christmas :)
Hi all -- My son Charlie is 45 days out from Great Lakes and just took his last PT. It seems like he gets a little more information as his departure gets closer. Yesterday we learned that after boot camp PIR the SWCC stay at Great Lakes for more training. I guess we thought he'd go right to Coronado. ALSO, we heard that training at Coronado is suspended during the Christmas holiday. Can the trainees come home during that time?
Tikkie----please check the discussions above. There is a discussion on what they can bring. When in doubt, check with his recruiter.
