My son's PIR is also this Friday, perhaps we will meet!
Cannot wait.
Thank you all for the kind words.
WELCOME!! Chelita and Joanie!!
there are NO stupid questions..... "W" stands for Warrior. Since we cannot and should not and will not tell our sons' names and whereabouts, we use "W" so we all know we are talking about our child.... and it describes them so well :)
From what I have been told, the new SWCC train-ees do stay in GL for a while to get back into shape after basic. The have "jobs" but mostly PT.
I wouldn't count on Christmas.... our son was at Coronado for Christmas during his training. He was not allowed leave. We celebrated when we saw him at graduation!!
One more thing to add to SWCC'Em-----
This came through this site a couple years ago, in regards to trying to explain what our kiddos do---
"I don't try to explain-- to those who understand, no explanation is necessary; to those who don't understand- no explanation is possible."
Happy Monday!!!
Howdy y'all. My son graduates bc on 10/12 and stays in GL until Dec some time. He is fresh out of high school. This may seem like a stupid question, but I can't find the answer...what is a "W"? Do you think they will start a new training group before Christmas or possibly after? I hope my kiddo can come home for Christmas, but am not holding my breath.
Thanks for all the info in the posts. I am prior Navy but this is a whole new world for me. ;)
Welcome Chellita! Have a wonderful time at PIR, it is an awesome experience for sure! Try to get to Chicago/Navy Pier for a visit while your there if your son has free time! Best of Luck to him in SWCC training when he gets out to Coronado! We will be here for you if you need support or have any questions! Take Care!
Hello All you courageous Moms!
My son 's PIR is on 10/5.
Cannot wait to see him! He is SO very excited for Coronado.
Thank you for all the information on what is about to happen.
I am so very proud that he is where he is and that he will become one of these amazing men of valor.
I will be reading all I can to keep myself informed as well as looking for the incredible support that is obviously offered here.
Chellita
I haven't checked this board in awhile and am glad to see all of the posts this morning! What a nice surprise! :)
"New Moms:" What I've learned on this journey so far (tongue in cheek... kind-of):
I'm sure that there are many more that the "vet" Mom's have-- I'm still a rookie in the whole process myself!!
A heart-felt congratulations to all that graduated recently!! My "W" will (hopefully) be graduating next year and we're planning to attend as well and wouldn't miss this for the world. Nice to know that it's recorded!
For those who's sons are deployed (or will be shortly): I know you're looking forward to hearing from them and getting them back home ASAP. I will pray for their safe journey back home to you: God bless and Gods speed to them and to you.
Good Morning! Congratulations to all the recent SWCC graduates & their families, such an awesome accomplishment for sure!!
BJA57, Thinking of you & hoping all goes well for your W's 3rd deployment! I also want to thank you for sharing your motto with us..it is truly helpful to remember those wise words & always be encouraging to our brave, strong sons!
I hope you all have a wonderful day!
SouthBend Debbie...are you out there?
