I have a crazy question. Chattanooga in not next to the ocean so how can it have a fleet week?
Gwen -
There is a Naval and Marine Reserve Training Center on Amnicola Highway in Chattanooga. There is also a Coast Guard boat docked near the Chickamauga Dam. The Tennessee River winds through town. There is even a Junior Cadet Navy program that meets at the Reserve Training Center which I checked out for my teenage sons.
I would like more info Mary. A schd of events if possible, I may be able to come done there for a day or two. Thanks fo much for the info.

Lynne
Mary - I'm in Chattanooga and would love to be involved in this. Do you have any more details? Will you be there? Ellen
I would love to find out the events planned and the times of the events.
That is the same week as the Riverbend Festival in Chattanooga. Will the flight simulator be at Riverbend-seems like it was last year? If these things are at Riverbend then people will need a pin to get in-won't they? Also if coming from out of town, hotels can get crowded during that week but its a lot of fun and there are many activities going on down at the river front.
It is the same week as the Riverbend Festival Sally - I am not sure about the flight simulator but I'll be asking those questions.
I would like to know more about fleet week
Hi Mary. I would like more information on this. I live just outside of Cleveland and would love to attend. Do you have any type of schedule with times and so forth?
I would love to come. Is there a schedule available? We live about 3 hours away so we would like to see as much as we could and not come on the wrong day or time;)
Hi ladies, sorry for the delay. I am working with the LT now - trying to get the plan for Chattanooga together. Should have something posted by the close of business Tuesday - hope to meet lots of you!
Navy week is not the same as Fleet week, there will not be Blue Angels nor will there be ships...darn. But the Navy band will be playing as part of the Riverbend Festival on both Saturday and Sunday. In talking with the LT that is coordinating the details, Navy week in more of an outreach event and there are not alot of public outings planned. They are more hands on - please go to navyweeks.org for more specifics.

HOWEVER...the MCPON Rick West will be in Chattanooga and has invited the families to join him for dinner on Thursday, June 11th @ 6 pm. Dinner will be in Chattanooga and we would love to see as many of you as possible. It is important that we have a head count for planning purposes, please go to "EVENTS" and let us know if you will be able to come for dinner and how many will be with you. I will be driving in from North Atlanta and hope to bring a few of the GA moms with me.
