I'm in Denton, but I have no idea when my son's PIR date is.  He left on the 22nd of this month.

He left the week after my son.  You should get a form letter soon that will have the information in it.  If you have not already, you will receive his "box" with all his personal items in it.  That was a little bit emotional for me...it still smelled like him.  I wish you well during this time and your son as well.  If you have questions, I am only a week further into the  process than you, but I would be happy to try to answer any.

God Bless,

Navy Momma

I'm just south of Denton in Keller area... My son has been in for about 3 years so if I can help with anything please let me know...
Thanks....has he got to travel much or been close?  I am wondering about A school...do they get to come home between A school and being stationed or deployed?  What does your son do for the Navy...mine will be aircraft mechanic.  Lots of questions...lol How old was your son when he went in?  Did you see a huge change in your son? Some are totally silly, but a momma wonders...
He has been deployed once so far... As far as his school it was a long one (he is a SEAL) he did get to come home after he completed all of his schooling but that was almost a year and a half. He was 20 when he went in and I was scared to death but after seeing him at boot camp graduation I saw a grown man not a little boy anymore. I could not believe it the first time he picked up an iron and started ironing his clothes. It will get easier after bootcamp because he will have his cell phone to be able to call and that makes the days so much shorter for momma. They were so long while he was in bootcamp for me. Just let me know if there is anything I can to for you and since we are so close we can get together for coffee or lunch one day too...

I would love to talk to you....My son is there now SHip 04/DIV 820, he hopes are to go tot Pre Buds - If I am even calling it by the right name, there in the Great Lakes and then on to Navy Seal....I am scared to death, he just graduated UNT in May and off he went but he knew he wanted this his entire life, I had hoped during college he would change his mind, he did the degree for me and his grandfather he said - Anyway, I would love to call you and chat. He wants his cell and all that when I come to graduation on Oct 14th, however he can not take it back on base that night and my flight leaves at 3pm, many questions to ask you.

Judy, we left before our son did too.  In one of your letters ask him if he has a good friend whose parent will be there to see him off at the airport.  My son had a friend who was also going to San Antonio so we gave his stuff to his friend's dad.  What is your son's rate?
His buddy is there too from Flower Mound and his dad has a business meeting Monday, so he is staying there, so hopefully that is what we will work out...Ok rate help me on this, my cell is 214-223-8312 if easier to talk :)

Judy - I sent you a friend request - these forums are public so becareful what you post.  I am getting some stuff done but wrote down your number and wil give you a call as soon as I can.

You should be able to edit your message.  I would to suggest you do so and remove your cell .

Yes, I live in the Carrollton area and my son's PIR date is Oct. 7th and Ship 09 Div 337.  Have you received any letters let??
I hope I am responding correctly, I started a group by trying to talk and that is not what I wanted to do and now can not delete it.....Anyway, yes I recieved letters, got one phone call, he seemed fine, like someone was in the room, reserved in his talking....food good, lack of sleep, lots of yelling most likely right? He seemed good just wanting it over and sees his buddy from this area every once in awhile, he did say some guys in his group are from back here in TX so that makes it easier to talk with and pass the time better...I try to write every other day, just keep him updated on sports, world news, he likes that, how about you on calls and letters, your graduation is pretty soon :)
I live in Flower Mound, new to this all...my son is Ship 04/DIV 820 - Any advise appreciated
