For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Leaving from Dallas MEPS Oct. 3rd...
My son Kenny is leaving from MEPS in Dallas on Oct. 3rd. I've never been there. I'm dropping him off Tuesday at the recruiting office in Sherman but he wants me to see him off from MEPS on Wednesday. Any suggestions or advice? I don't even know what time I need to be down there!

The recruiter would know the exact times. But keep in mind, the processing starts super early in the morning. Maybe you could go stay in the hotel with him Tuesday night so you two could have breakfast together in the morning. That way you wouldn't take a chance on getting stuck in the morning Dallas traffic, should an accident occur.

Kaylo, I was there at 0630 and was early but better that than some parents that missed the swearing in. I also went to the hotel the night before and had dinner with him. Get the exact addree from the recruitor as I can't remember that. You'll have to go through security at MEPS. Plan on being there until 1200 it will probablybe earlier but you'll want to watch him board the bus to the airport. It is crazy emotional but you don't want to miss it. Patty

My SR (sailor recruit) left from Dallas 8/22. He was supposed to be sworn in at 9 am. i was there by 9am but he wasn't sworn till like 11am. so if you can, get there by 9am. You will have to park on the street at a meter or park in a lot and walk a little. wich is what i did. paid 12.00 to park. after he was sworn in (take lots of pictures) i left. i should have stayed till he went to the airport. pm me and i will tell you more.

My mom and I left at 7:30 to drive to Dallas and at 8:30 he texted me and said to hurry up because his group was next to be sworn in! And I was still at least 30 minutes away!! We ended up paying $12 to park in the closest lot since there weren't any empty parking places on the street. We got to MEPS at 9:30 and he was sworn in at 9:45. He wouldn't let us take any pictures and warned me and my mom that we couldn't cry. We got to sit with him until noon and they called them to load the bus. We walked down to tell him goodbye and my mom and I both started crying and he said "No, no, no....no crying!" We were able to laugh it off and he got on the bus and left. I'm so glad we went but I wish I had taken more pictures. I only got two pictures and one was while he was swearing in and two women stepped right in front of me as I snapped the picture! You can barely see my son between their two arms! I was so irritated!
