Hi,
Received 2 calls today from Casey, He is safely in Virginia Beach, has an address and had managed to spend $100 ay the NEX. He sounded more relaxed and is happy with the environment and his room, dorm room type with 2 to a room. He is anxious to start his IS school. I am still on the hunt for my camera.
Take care all, stay safe.... Patti

Hello again.
For all of you who got ill, I know why. Our son, Casey, had strep throat, bronchitis, and pneumonia all at the same time. He told me after we got there because he did not want us to worry. I knew they would take good care of them medically, anyway me being a military brat. Then 3 days into our visit he casually mentioned that he also got conjunctivitis (pink eye) after the last 3 illnesses... They wanted him in bed for 5 days and he refused and they gave him strong antibiotics that knocked it out in 5 days, and he only had bed rest for one day. He told the Dr. “no way” was he going to miss any training that may hold him back... He said all of the stuff you are suffering from was rampant in all of the divisions. I know they say not to use it, but I have been using Zantac for years, and it is wonderful, and Wal-Mart and, Walgreens makes a generic. I have never had any side effects in using it for over 5 years, but they may have pulled it from the shelves. Hope you all feel better. I am still on the hunt for my camera! Take care & stay safe.... He was fine and ready to go off to A school... Patti

Hello All...
We just returned last night... Seemed way to short, but Casey, our Sailor was anxious to get onto his A School in Damn Neck.. Spent most of his time fussing about his uniform, and asking what time it was.. But down to the real reason for this comment ... I lost my digital camera on the metro train or in the cab in DT Chicago... We went to the Art Institute. I know seems like a strange place to go but, both my husband I have art degrees and Casey was at this Gallery a year ago and wanted to make sure we got there... Anyway it either fell out of my bag when we got off the train, or in the taxi. We went to went at Girodanos at the Prudential Plaza before the gallery.. Casey called Giordanos Saturday right after we got back and they did not have it, I have called lost & found at both the train and cab companies.... So still am on the hunt... Of all things to loose.. It had family photos of Casey with us and a graduation video also. So if any one out there has any individual photos of Div 238 , I would appreciate you sharing them with us. I will even pay for them if necessary, I was looking at his photo packet and could see a DVD can be ordered. Stupid me I never did see Casey in the Divisions as they marched in as they announced them as they came in the overhead doors not as they passed the reviewing stand.... DUH... So what Division I recorded I do not know? I never did see him at all during the ceremony, and his father walked right past him when they broke formation, because he didn't recognize him, he is 25 and looked younger (now) than when he left and had dropped another 25 pounds.. I do think I saw a few of you at the train station Sat. when we returned, but was not sure... And of course when we got back to the car Casey confirmed it, but he he would not confirm it at the station.... Children these days? What is with them? Any way if any one can help me I would appreciate it... Hope you all had a nice time... We are extremely tired, and I need to unpack and do laundry... Being 59, one does not travel as well as I did in my 20's.... It will take me a week to recoup... Take care all and stay safe, Patti & Chris Carper

Hi all!!.
We just got off of the phone with our son, Casey. Second call finally! He filled me in and all seems well with all in Div 238. He also told me that he had strep throat, pneumonia and an ear infection all in one day...YIKES!! Glad I didn't know. Did not go to infirmary, bed rest for 1 day.. All is well, we are leaving for Omaha from Lincoln, NE.. We fly out at 5:55 PM, late night, fly into Midway, take a shuttle to O'Hare, rent car than drive to Residence Inn.... I should have some interesting travel stores when we get there... Any way enough of me.... Casey said all of Div 238 is in good shape, tired but ready for PIR tomorrow. He has the all of the week-end days off, and will probably sleep.... Hopefully we will be able to meet most of you this week-end. Stay safe... Cheers, Patti & Chris Carper

Hello Moms,
Our son Casey is in Div 238... We are flying in from Omaha tomorrow... Seems he can't remember our phone #, but managed a promotion at basic, and to spend $125 at the Naval Exchange today, so he must have had some free time... I can see his bank activity because all of our accounts are linked together.... I guess we will see him Thursday.... Gotta pack and get all loose ends tied up at home... Probably will see most of you there Thursday, 6:30 AM is way too early for me, but he is our only child... I think I will be so hyped from the trip that I probably won't sleep anyway... See you there, and stay safe and have a safe trip... What is the meet and greet? This is all new to me as I am and Air Force "brat", and do not know much about the Navy, even though we lived right next to Norfolk VA. Take care, Patti

Good Morning Everyone, I live in the Chicago area and wanted to let you know about the terrific fireworks in the city on July 3 & July 4. If you can deal with crowds, it is an amazing display. On July 3, Taste of Chicago sponsors the fireworks. On July 4, they are sponsored by Navy Pier. Both fireworks can be viewed on the lakefront and Navy Pier. Be sure to take the train from GL to the city because traffic and parking will be impossible!! Any questions, drop me a line. Congratulations to all our new sailors. My sailor PIR'd a year ago and it was something I will NEVER forget! Be sure to take lots of kleenex. Pat
