Hi everyone. I was hoping to get in touch with the moms/ loved ones from the Florida's blue team. My son is a rider on the Florida. He is assigned to a Fast Attack Sub, so I am on unfamiliar ground right now. I know that there is a big difference between communication with a submariner on a fast attack and a 'bummer'.

Did the guys come up for air, a dose of Vit D3, and get their packages yet?

Hi Gayle, sorry so long to respond, stupid crazy holding down the home front with another teenager at home.

Tell your son, Welcome to the Florida and gold crew from all of us, and thanks so much for his service.

My son Nick is an ET (Electronic Tech) radioman.  He is doing a ride along on another boat as we speak, trying to get his quals done and get his dolphins.

I thought once they graduated A school that they were "submariners", but actually it could take up to a year longer to get all the qualifications done to finally earn their dolphin pin.   I know my son is working super hard to get his behind him.

I'm not sure if you know much about the Florida, but there is alot of information out there about that particular boat, and it has done some amazing things.  My son was thrilled to be assigned to her.

There doesn't seem to be alot of activity on this group yet, but I'm hoping to spend more time here keeping up with any news.  Feel free to find me if I can help in any way.

The one thing that is comforting to me is just checking here sometimes, and knowing that you all know exactly how I am feeling about my kid being out there, and how proud I am that he is.

Take care, and I look forward to more news about our Sailors.

Hello Karen,

My son is assigned to the gold crew also, as a nubbie.  There doesn't seem to be much activity on this site.  Is there another spot that the USS Florida moms talk?

What does your son do? Mine is an ST and has not been under as of yet.

Hi all, I am not new to Navy for Moms, but certainly new to the USS Florida group.  My son Nick was assigned to the Gold Crew several months ago.  He is so excited to be part of such a prestigious boat.  He starts home tomorrow for Christmas, and I can't wait to see his face, and hear all about the rest of the crew.  I am so grateful to have him home as I realize it may be years until he is home again at Christmas.  To all the other Florida families, I wish you all a wonderful holiday season, and my sincere thanks to your Sailor and to you for all of your sacrifices.
