OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Carolyn S, how do I email you privately? That would be great for my grandson to receive a care package. Thank you! What kinds of things should we send to them?

My grandson is a Riverine, and is now in Iraq. This is his 1st deployment, and the 1st time I have had a loved one overseas. We are from the TIconderoga area, in the Adirondacks. I wish I lived closer to the Syracuse area so I could join in your activities. There must be someone in the Albany area since my grandson trained there every Wednesday during his delayed entry.

Good Morning Upstate NY Moms - I am from Windsor, NY a little town in Upstate NY located off Route 17/Interstate 86. The closest big city to us is Syracuse, NY about 90 miles to the north on Interstate 81. My son graduated from PIR on March 5 and is currently in Afghanistan on a 60-90 day tour. I am a terrified Mom right now!! Tomorrow will be his 21st birthday. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks - Noreen

We live near Ticonderoga, NY in the Adirondack Mountains, between Lake George and Lake Champlain. Is there anyone else from this area?
I am the grandma of a Riverine stationed in Little Creek, VA and soon to be deployed. Any words of wisdom for a scared grandma?
