Hi Ann-Marie  Im also a new Sailor mom.  My son graduated 3/18 just a week after yours  He is hoping to be a CTR and going through the security process now.  He is in Pensacola Florida  and keeps reminding me what nice weather it is there   I live in a suburb of Rochester NY so not quite as upstate as you  but have been to the Adirondacks many times  Blue Mountain being a favor spot   We also are boaters and go to Alex Bay at least once a season

AndieMKK.. welcome.. maybe  we can all meet some time and hang out. I am thinking about looking into some of the camping areas Ann-Marie mentioned there was.

Thanks, I would appreciate that, especially since we bought our season tickets for Graet escape. Hey, we should have a NAvy Mom day at Great escape. that would be cool.

Hello NavyMoms. I'm new to this forum too and I also live in the Adirondacks. I read an earlier comment from a mom who had an assortment of military kids. Mine are split between Army and Navy also. Oddly enough my army guy is an engineer diver, so they both see alot of water, but never together. Makes it difficult to plan for get togethers.

Welcome AnnMarie. I  live like an hour from you.  Since your son is a Seabee, you might want to think about joining Seabee Moms. there is also a thread dealing with Gulfport. My son is a Seabee also. He is stationed in Gulfport. He is a CE- Consrtuction Electrician. At the moment he is  on his 4th deployment,  in Japan.

Since you live in the Adirondacks,  do you know of any good camping areas up there that are FREE? You are supposed to be able to camp in various areas of the  forests for nothing. Usually we camp in the Green Mountains of Vermont. because they have free camping up there. but with the gas prices the way theu are, I would be nice to be a little closer to home. you can friend me if you'd like. and  again Welcome. All these groups are here for you.  there's  special interest ones.  and you are bound o find people you can relate to. There's a few people in this group that live up near you.

Hello everyone, I am a new Navy Mom. My son's PIR was 3/11/11. He is a student in holding in Gulfport, MS. He is a Seabee BU. I live in the Adirondacks. Got a lot to learn about my son being in the Navy apparently! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

kk, I wonder how that couple is from this past summer, you remember me telling you about the accident on the way up to  Turningstone. I think of them often and wonder  what would have happen if we hadn't stopped. I hope all is well with them. And my prayers for all in Japan. Luckily my son is okay. I  wonder what they are doing.. probably some kind of electrical work, some rebuilding.

My deepest sympathy to the families of the sailors killed in a training accident in California. One young man was from Ft. Ann, NY which is about 45 minutes from us. So sad.

Lots of snow here in Schdy. My son  re-enlisted for 6 more. How exciting for him and his  wife. I hope sometime he blesses me with another grandchild. I have 2 boys already, a little granddaughter would be nice. But they aren't ready yet, so when and if it happens, this grandma will be really happy. In the meantime I will enjoy what  I have. My youngest son  was at his sister's this past week watching his 7yr old nephew while she was at work My youngest grandson who just turned  8mos old is starting to pull himself up. How exciting.Even though we only live 5-10 mins away, its hard to get over there to see the kids.. well everyone enjoy the snow. Talk soon.. Nita
