I'm sorry, that is "does not Have a 619 area code"
Comment by ncmadocent on May 19, 2010 at 5:03pm
My daughter does not gave a 619 area code, so I know that other codes can receive phone calls.

Gloria: I've put in a call to get the number that came up on caller ID, but haven't gotten a response back from her.

Well, the Sailors have already departed sunny SD headed to meet the others. Saying goodbye wasn't as bad as I thought with my hubby and the kids. However, goodbye is never easy and doesn't get easier. :( However, it is their job and we must share them with everyone else. I wouldn't trade being a military wife for anything even though it is hard at times. The times they are home definitely pays off.

Becky, my hubby will be missing our 10 year Anniversary on June 3rd and also our daughter's birthday again for the second time. She understands that "daddy is out helping others though." I can definitely relate to your DIL.

From my understanding, there is a phone on the ship for them to use; however, from what I was told they can only call 619 area codes. Now, that is not confirmed by anyone onboard just what another spouse told me.

My daughter said she got a phone call from her husband two days in a row. I asked whether they had gotten into port early but she said 'no'. Don't know exactly how it happened, but she was certainly delighted.

My hubby leaves this week headed to meet the ship in Guam :( ... I have heard from several people that communication has been in and out. However, hearing from my hubby at all will be great considering his last deployment in 03, I only heard from him once in 6 months. Thanks for sharing the updates. I look forward to giving updates that I may get from my hubby once he joins everyone else.

Video of the ship coming into HI from http://twitter.com/PacificPartner http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=755U3zGYKPI Check it out. In answer to the prev question about the relationship betweene email abilities and WIFI seervices/internet. I think the reason the ship can still send/receive email is because that is under a separate secure network through a different server in no relation to the ship's WIFI services.Let's just hope to get the WIFI up soon. In the mean time my hand is getting writer's cramp. :) But it's worth it.

When will the internet be restored? Does anyone know?

When the ship was moored in HI, it was toured by group, I think, from the "Big Island Film Festival" specifically a Mr. Damon Tucker and his group. See pictures at: http://damontucker.com/2010/05/09/visiting-one-of-the-largest-traum...
The shortcut from fb is : http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fow.ly%2F1Jfpf&h=5a76f
Anyway, it is under www.damontucker.com
there a lot of photos of the ship and crew from the visit.
