New to this site, Can anyone tell me where to do to get more info on ship out dates and such?
Happy Mother's Day ladies :)
It was a terrific experience! The booths with food, drink, give aways, activites... the flowers, flags, and pom poms...... talking with other families and hearing how far they travelled to be there for the Homecoming..... the "dancing" tug boat and water spray..... the plane overhead with the Welcome Home USS Benfold banner...... the Navy Band playing...... seeing the boat pull in with the crew in their Dress Blues....... it was amazing. Watching the families and loved ones reunite.......Wow, it was really touching... It was a day I will always remember. Of course, the best part of all was seeing my Son!! We got to keep him till Saturday...... but he'll be home vor a visit soon....
Homecoming was AWESOME!!!! Having my sailor and his baby girl home with us is even MORE AWESOME :)
OH, I forgot to ask......... Diane, you mentionted the Ombudsman would be posting instructions.......... is that for us, the visitors? If so, where do I find this info?
Thanks Ladies! I got a call from my son last week and he kept bouncing back and forth with his arrival dates...... finally he settled on Friday....... so, like you Dianne, I am coming in Thurs and leaving Saturday morning. Thank goodness you mentioned that Diane, as it gives me peace of mind that he did give me the right date! The downfall is that we do NOT get to take him home Saturday - rather we have to drop him off at ship 5:30 a.m. to report to work......... he gets the second leave. Oh well, at least we get the day with him Friday, and look forward to his visit in a couple of weeks! I CANT WAIT TO SEE HIM!!! UGH!!
I always use the Choice Hotel Chain of hotels. We are staying at the Comfort Inn/Suites in hotel circle this time(2485 Hotel Circle Pl.,San Diego, CA, US, 92108,(619) 881-6200). They still have some rooms. I also like the Clarion in National City, but they do not have a free breakfast. I have found you cant really go wrong with any of the Choice Hotels. There are a TON of hotels in San Diego/National City. We are arriving on Thursday and leaving on Saturday with our sailor and his baby girl in tow!! I am looking foward to meeting everyone! Is it FRIDAY yet???? :)
Diane, thank you for your response and info. I cant belive the time is almost near!! I am looking for an inexpensive, yet somewhat close motel to stay in..... anybody have any suggestions??
