Yvonne said: "Boat hasn't left yet that I know of...... Hopefully Nick will get his reassignment to CTI when they get back which means he goes to school in Monterey for a year and then I get to spend at least one birthday and a the holidays with him. Oh well. For some reason this underway seems harder. He didn't get his car taken care of before he leaves and that worries me. It's never easy but every year I feel like we get more and more seperated. Whether he goes to Monterey or not, this boat needs to let these sailors have one holiday off, maybe switch with the Gold Crew! (edited for OPSEC by k.)

Talked with the kid last night (actually 1am this morning) and he said they did leave on Thu for a quick shakedown trip to test some stuff that had been repaired. He thought they'd just stay gone, so that's why he told me goodbye. But, they pulled back in on Sat. So, just ignore me... I'm only the mother! k.

OK... I just read on the girlfriend's Facebook page that she's getting to spend Sat night and all day Sunday with the sailor... (1) I'm REALLY confused!!! (2) He's gonna get smacked in the head because I'm learning stuff on HER page instead of from HIM!!! Ack! These boys! k.

So, exactly WHEN did that boat leave? Did we ever figure that out?

OK... who's got blue snowflakes falling? I don't know about ya'll, but this boat had better get some holiday leave one year or I'll mail reindeer poo to the Sec'y of the Navy!

Thanks, Marla, for those reminders. This year, Drew will "4 for 4" (as he puts it) for holidays away from home. I cry less about it now than three years ago, but it still makes me sad when we sit down for dinner. But, I remind myself that he's not coming home only because he doesn't have permission to leave his submarine and NOT because he's fighting with bad guys... my worries are still not as great as others'. Happy holidays back to you, Miss. Hugs, k.
