OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Aye, I'll second that... Drew called on Friday night, bushed. But he had to stand watch until 6am Saturday, then he said that M-Div (machinists) were working probably 12 hrs on both Sat and Sun, but had the nights off (but of course, never underestimate the Navy's capacity to change its mind!)

He said they probably wouldn't head out for a couple of weeks or so... the ORSE was not done this past short cruise, but would happen in the coming cruise... fun, fun, fun! Hugs! k.

I'm jealous! Jealous! Jealous! Funny how we savor every moment with them now, hm? So glad you got that time together. Was Silverdale pretty? I've been to Everett (long time ago), but can't wait to see Bremerton/Bangor... and my kid, of course! Happy early Mother's Day, Terrie! k.

Oh, Becky, I wish we all could have been there to clap and yell! I know some of that "PIR pride" had to well up inside... were you misty, beaming, or both? Your Am Legion and CC get a "Good Show" from me!

BTW, Son called yesterday and he'll have to go out on a short cruise with Gold crew, but he'll still get leave at the end of March... just one week later than we thought. I can't stand the waiting! Arrrggghhh! ;-) k.

They're back!!! Got a phone call at 9:15pm, Eastern. Son said the boat pulled in this afternoon. He was dog tired, ready for a shower and food, then he's going to sleep in his own bed.

His leave chit has been signed... March 20 at 4:00pm!!! Yay!!! Anyone else expecting a visit? Hugs, k.

Oh, thanks Yvonne... you've started me up again. Sometimes it's the pits being a military mom. What would we do without each other?! k.

Oh, thank you, thank you for the link! I had no idea I'd be emotional looking at them. But, when I enlarged the first one of the sub, I realized it had my son in it and the tears started! But, they were the same kind I had at PIR... so proud and moved by who he is now. I hope you ladies blew kisses at she sailed by.

I can't wait to hear about that @#$% LEAVE NOW!!! Ha! Hugs, k.
