OSV is a boat that goes out to the sub when it is out at sea and either picks up the guys to bring them back in or it brings things out to the sub such as mail or food or guys.  The son has done it before, when he went out with the blue crew for a week a couple of years ago.

What is an OSV?
Comment by Kathy on June 21, 2013 at 4:07pm

My son was sent in early to start out processing the base, because he will be leaving KB at the end of July.  He is not in yet they put him on a OSV to bring him in.

I got an email, but his sub email. so weird! can they get on their regular emails when they're underway?

Comment by Kathy on June 21, 2013 at 3:42pm

He email me that he was on a OSV.  Which might mean he is coming in earlier than the others.
