For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by Kathy on April 24, 2013 at 8:48am: I do not know some times it can be a week or longer like a month. It is ok to send him email, but they will not be able to send emails back. They are probably like I like to say playing war. What they usual do is mock training drills, nothing to worry about. This is a good crew.

Thanks so much for the info about the Gold Crew! My sailor sent me an email yesterday that sorta hinted at that but left me very confused, so I'm glad for the clarification! :) How long do they normally run silent for?

Comment by Kathy on April 22, 2013 at 9:53pm: This for the ladies that have sons in the Gold crew, if you don't get a email for a while. Some times the boat has to run silent, so no emails. I just wanted to give yall a heads up if that happens. Yall can still send emails, but they will not be sending any out.

I haven't talked to him, I hope they had fun. He definitely mentioned the meat and craft beer, guess that was the focus. Sounds like my kind of festival!

Comment by NavyMomLG on April 22, 2013 at 1:44pm: Happy Monday! Wow, this group is really picking up steam - I am going to have to check in on the weekends now too! I usually just check the site over my lunch break during the week. Lin, my son drove up to Charleston this weekend with three others from his crew (Blue) too. They went to a music festival on Saturday. Is it possible that Winston was one of them? I don't ever ask names because he always refers to people by their last name and I can never remember them anyway. In the 2 1/2 years he has been in the Navy, there are only four guys that I remember, and they were room mates so he talked about them often. I'm sure I will "meet" some of his crew mates soon. I'm thinking the Nukes probably spend more time together since they have similar jobs so he may know Winston.
