Blue crew received the Battle E earlier for the second time as well.. both crews on the Alaska are doing great! Last year my son got to march in Savannah's parade and said it was a blast. Have a great weekend ladies..

The gold crew just won a E award for the second time.  I don't know if that includes the Blue crew, probably does.  We are not allow to say or know when they are coming in are going out in the internet.  I usual know about when he is coming in and out.  The Gold crew also just marched in the Savannah St. Patrick's Day parade for the second time.

I still haven't heard from my son so now that I know they are turning over on Saturday I am going to try to reach him tonight.  The last I heard before they left, he was expecting that he would go out with the Gold Crew for part of their underway to get some of his qualifications, then come back in to the Blue Crew.  I am dying to hear how he did on his first trip, but trying to balance that with giving him space!  By the way, I saw an article about the Alaska Gold Crew winning an award for their cooks (I apologize, I know they have a different name but I can't remember what it is).

I know that they can take there laptops, but they have to bring them to some guy first because they have cameras on the laptops and they are not allowed to take photos of the inside of the sub.

Comment by donnab on March 28, 2013 at 4:23pm

Can they take cell phones or laptops with them? I know they would have no reception but just for entertainment or music?

To all the mom that have a son on the gold crew.  My son has been with the gold crew for 4 years come this July.  If any of the new mom's have any questions just ask, if I can answer them I will.

Thank you for the information danagagirl , This is very hard when you don't know exact dates and times, there is so much you just don't know. I guess I will be learning to just expect anything. This has been a very up and down emotional time for me. My whole family is so stressed just not knowing. We plan on going where he is and staying near the base for a few days. Hopefully I will get my hug.

Just found out he will be Gold Crew.

Donna from my understanding it all depends.. sometimes my son gets  a few days before they leave.. sometimes they don't .. especially since we don't know exactly when he leaves. This last small one he had maybe one or two days home, then he messaged me and said we are leaving :( hate those last second good byes.
