abdill778 - What is the facebook group for the boat?

Does anyone know the ombudsman's contact information? My husband is a rider, so I have no information at all.
Thank you!

karyn-- i agree!..lol

and 20000leagues---my DIL said that they are all getting shuttled to the dock this time because there is going to be so many people. And, like Karyn mentioned, contacting the Obudsman was also what she told me to pass onto you. I hope u are able to make it up there. Im sure he would be so happy to see you..:))..they are all anxious to see familiar faces, im sure.

I think you should contact the Ombudsman with your inquiry.  Probably your boyfriend would have to put you on a list before anything can be done.  Your really should ask someone who knows for sure.  I completely understand what you are saying about him coming home and no one being there to greet him.  I felt the same way when my son came home from his first ever deployment and no one was there to greet him.  I felt like such a bad mom.  Luckily he is married now and she is there for him.

Hello ladies, I don't post on here much. I typically use this just to keep up to date and feel connected as best as I can but I kind of need some help.

I am the girlfriend of a sailor on the Alex. I know that since I'm not technically family, I get far less insight about the opperations. All I know is what my sailor is able to say and through conversations with his mom and dad.

His parents will not be able to make it to his homecoming and it devistates me that after all this time, he will come up to no one waiting for him. I want to be there more than anything, but honestly I'm not sure how to go about doing it. Even if I am able to find out exactly when it is, I don't know if I'll even be allowed on base. When I've visited in the past, he's always been with me.

I figured I could just call the ombudsman, but I was just wondering if you ladies could provide me with any advice or feed back. I don't need to stay there long, I know he will most likely have work, but I just imagine him getting off the boat and someone should be there. I want to be there even if just for that day.

When will the invitations go out? I want to make reservations but am in the dark about the scheduling.

Good news to hear.  DIL is hoping that their son will be able to hold her hand and walk to his Dad.  He is very mobile now but not walking.  Having made reservations at the Navy Lodge does bring it closer doesn't it Gail!  So excited for all of those attending.

My DIL is home visiting us in PA, and she said that my son told her in his last email (over 10 days ago)...that it will be far and few between for us to receive emails. They are so busy, that they wont be sending many out from now until homecoming. Also...im so JEALOUS of those of you going to homecoming. We cant afford two trips so closely together (we are going on a destination 'real' wedding for my son and DIL),Plus he has duty the day after they come home. Between duty time and 'wife' time.....we would barely see him before we have to return home...hahahaha!...As long as his wife is there to greet him on the dock...thats good enough for me, i will see him soon enough. I would love to watch them pull in though..:))

Gail, when do you think we can expect the invites? How do they come, U.S.Mail or email? I haven't heard from my sailor.

Karyn- My husband and I are disabled (we became disabled in different times of our marriage), and money is really tight. We are on the East Coast but, not close enough to CT.  --- its frustrating.

Ahh, Thank you Rebecca for the kind words.  Hope all that get to go to homecoming enjoys it.  How can't you!   East Coast - West Coast  is a hard deal not knowing exactly when.  I think we have given up on making it to one of those activities.
