Janlee- We all feel your pain....at least we have each other to talk to. =)
Holly- I can only imagine the anticipation while you waited for your son to come off his carrier out of a sea (no pun intended. lol) of people. It must have been hard, yet wonderful at the same time.
I only hope my family and I can make/afford the trip to their homecoming. I would love to be there to hug and kiss my son...and welcome him home.
Kayrn- I hope things will work out so that your son will be able to visit you and the rest of your family soon! That way your son can 'introduce' your grandson to his dad and your mother. =)
Im really missing my son. I got an email saying how anxious they all are to come home. im sure they all are feeling the same emotions.... "so close, but yet so far"....i told my son to just pitch everything in the garbage, jump off the sub, and swim to shore as it gets closer..lol. I feel for them. Its been a long time.
Thanks Rebecca, I'll get in touch with Tracie. I don't know the exact date they return for sure. I don't know when I'll recieve the invite & if it'll have the info I need. Another Navy Mom, Lynn, emailed me also. It turns out that she lives very close to me. Our sons went to the same high school, but different years. It is her son's1st deployment also. He is also working on getting his dolphins. It really is a small world!
Ellen- In case you pop in.... I'm so sorry but, we are not allowed to pass on information about the deployment of the Alexandria for security reasons. As the saying goes "loose lips sink ships". As the families of submariners we are suppose to behave as though the enemy is always watching. I don't know what information you are looking for, though our Ombudsman might be able to help you. I will email you her information.
Hi Everyone! Sorry I haven't been on in a while. Can someone please email me. My son met the boat in Nov, so I never got info about deployment. This is his 1st deployment. He doesn't email much, I think because he's trying to earn his dolphins. My email is dtangren@cpinternet.com. Thanks.
I too hope they come home on time. My son goes on land duty when they return and will be attending schooling for his new job (whatever that is). Unfortunately it does not sound like he will be able to make a trip to California right away because of the schooling. Sad about that as his father has not met his Grandson yet and my mother, who is 88, was so looking forward to meeting her Great-grandson. Tough living on different coasts. I too am missing his voice.
proudmom---im right there with ya...missing my son so badly. its been long enough. Im hoping that they return on time, and get some leave so they can relax and stretch their legs a little...i miss that big smile the most..;)
Holly and Proudmom- I know what you mean ladies... the distance between us and our children when they are miles away is always too far. Yet, when there is an open line of communication, it can close the gab of the miles.
Holly- I sounds like you have a great relationship with your DIL...which is wonderful. How exciting! Being able to make a move to a new home that is.
I'm with you Proudmom...I've been missing my son terribly too. I'm praying the Alex will come home on the date originally planned
Thanks so much! I just thought there could have been a private group. The Topeka has a group, but there's never too much boat information posted; it's just easier to check and create events since everyone's on facebook anyway. I don't know what we'd do without everyone sticking together! :)
Hi Heatherb319- I wish I could help.. I haven't found anything but the general page also. BUT, maybe the other ladies in the group will have some useful information.
