Hi ladies! My husband just joined the boat at the last port to ride. (He's with the Topeka, currently in the Portsmouth shipyard.) Is there a facebook group for friends/family of the Alexandria? I've only seen a general page for anyone to join. Thank you!
Well my DIL drove the whole way back to PA from CT the other day to stay with us for a week or so. The time is going so slowly, she thought that a change of scenery might do her good and make the time go a little faster. Shes enjoying visiting with friends and family and 3 days have gone by already..lol...so time does seem to be going a little quicker...but having her here with us makes me wish for my son to be here, even more than usual. gahhhhhh, i wish time would move it already!...lol
Just as Holly has mentioned... I too would like to thank you ladies for sharing your letters. Through all of you I can get an idea how things are going on the boat, even if I don't receive a letter from my son.
Janlee- I'm so happy that everything seems to be falling into place for your son, for you and the rest of your family.
well i just received a letter from my son. He seemed in great spirit!!...i was actually smiling the whole time i was reading it!...as ive said before...we are planning this huge destination wedding, and weve been so worried about a delay, leave, etc.....and this letter really put my mind at ease (for now..lol). He said they are bored and have been watching alot of movies. Hes put in for his leave and IF HE GETS IT.....the wedding will go off without a glitch, AND he will have time to relax!!!.Thank you JESUS!...lol...hope your Sailors are all doing fine, and i pray for their quick/safe return..:)
Thank you Janlee V-day wishes. =)
I'm glad you've heard from your son. I can relate to what your son wrote to you. The last time I talked to my son,Charley, was the day they were leaving port. He told me how their last port was a 'working' port and how he didn't have time to see the sights. Charley pratically said the same as your son has mentioned, that everyone is working hard and that they can't wait to come home. I hope and pray that all our submariners will get some type of break in the stress and tension they have in their daily lives. I will be so happy and relieved when the crew of Alexandria comes home safe and sound. I am grateful that I have you ladies for support during these trying times....when we are full of worry because of the difficulties our submariners are going through. I hope that the crew of the Alex are just as...or more supportive of each other. =)
Karyn---so glad for you DIL for getting to see your/her Sailor..:) im sure they made the best of their time.
Rebecca==Happy V-day to you as well.;)
I didnt hear from my son too much while they were in port. I got an email this morning from him and it stated how badly he is ready to come home. He said they spent so much of their time working while in port they hardly got any free time to see the sites/relax. His letter was so full of stress and tension...he kept repeating how badly everyone wants to get off the boat and just be back home with family. I hope this last leg of their journey goes quickly. Praying for time to pass..:)
Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!
DIL is enroute back to the US. She said it was bittersweet leaving her man but yet coming home to their son. Sounds like it was a great visit and they got time to visit the sites. I too hope they are able to come home on time as they are suppose to bring the baby to California to introduce him to my mom, his Great-Grandmother. But with the Navy, you just never know. They don't always keep to the schedule. So moms.....keep pumping up those sailors! This last portion of the deployment is hard on them.
My son seems to be enjoying his time on land. he also watched the Penguins game. Proudmom---were are you from? we are from PA about 30 miles from Pittsburgh..so we are pengiun/steeler/pirate fans..:))...i cant wait for their return..:)
Its so wonderful that a lot of wives/girlfriends were able to meet up with thier Submarines at this port! I think it is priceless to be able to meet up with your sailor while their in port.
I wish I was able to participate in doing something like that. But, I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing it. Lol *We just need to hang in there until they come home. In the mean time we need to keep sending supportive letters to our Submariners. =)
