Karyn---this is FANTASTIC news!..im so happy for your son and DIL. Oh..i wish my DIL could have flown out to see my son. She wanted to so badly, but they are saving for the 'real' wedding...lol..They have been in constant contact since hes landed..even though the connections are bad..:)
Got to SKYPE with my sailor and my DIL yesterday. She flew out to meet up with him where they are. Today they hung at the hotel and went out late afternoon and evening. Glad she was able to make the trip. DIL mom and dad are taking care of the baby while she is gone. Enjoy those phone calls everyone!
Hope they are able to stay in port for awhile. Hopefully, our submariners will be able to enjoy some liberty time on land.... while being responsible,of course. lol
GOT A CALL!!!..lol...he sounded very tired. He smashed his finger and its been giving him trouble...but other than that (and being ready to come home)..he sounded good. Im just glad they are on land and getting a little break..:))..hope you all hear from you Sailors.;)
oh Proudmom...i hope your right. My DIL is having a rough time. Its been too long. I saw a commercial about the Military last night during the Super Bowl and i broke down. I miss my son so much and my heart breaks for his wife.
Glad he is doing better also.
Proudmom---so sorry your son was potentially seriously injured!. and glad to hear he is doing okay. I cant believe how they work these boys. Thank God he took matters into his own hands. Makes your wonder where there concern lies.
Proudmom- I am soo happy your son is feeling better. I hope with each passing minute he feels better than the last.
I was shocked and appalled to hear that his superiors asked him to continue working. Seriously?! An individual's safety should be more important that worrying about some inspection!
I also heard the half-way party was fun. Saw lots of pictures that were taken on FB. How exciting for you Gail to attend the party. I just dream of making it to a homecoming some time.
I havent been on for a few days (my computer was on the fritz), but how nice to see there was a 'halfway party'..my DIL didnt even mention it to me. hmmm....i will ask if she attended..:) My son never mentioned about it being cold either. I sent him a pillow in my last care package, so i guess he would have made better use of a blanket. I dont know if i should send one now??? being my packages always seemed to go missing, hes likely to not receive t until their return to Groton...lol..Also, i just got word that my DIL is coming home (PA) for a few weeks. She said time goes faster when she visits home..:)) She got her work schedule all figured out, and im looking forward to her coming home. Time will go faster for me too. Plus...i miss my 'grand-dog'...hahaha!
