Proudmom-I agree I think the Navy should supply our servicemen with essentials to keep them comfortable (if possible). The least the Navy should do is warn the newbies. Let them know what items they might possibly need;like a blanket to keep warm, and to help them get more restful sleep.

Holly- A very heartfelt Thank you for the offer. I will let Charley know to get in touch with Jeffery aka Thomas. I know right know Charley goes to bed wearing two hoodies over his clothes...but he is still cold. *I even if Thomas can't help, Charley would greatly appreciate you and your son just wanting to help. =)  -Thanks again.

To all you ladies- thank you for the suggestions. I will keep looking. I'm hoping to put together another small care package. I wanted to have sent it by now, but I caught the flu and that put a wrench in my plans. I'm hoping I'll be able to put something together soon.

Gail- Thank you for the update on the 'Half way night dinner".

Gail, thank you for the heads up. Being in MS and working I won't ever get to one of those events. Kyle is not writing me right now, I hope he's staying in touch with his wife. Somehow he can make it to facebook. Oh well.  I sent him a valentines day package. I wish I could have been at this dinner. It sounds really nice. I've never heard Kyle mention being cold on the sub, is this a problem?  Thanks again, Dory, mom of Kyle.

I'm hoping you ladies might be able to help me out. I've been trying to find a blanket that is made out of natural materials that is warm and soft for my son. He's told me how cold it can be in the sub,and the blanket must be made with natural materials due to fire code. I've done some research but, I can't find a blanket that mets all the qualifications without being outrageously priced; $150 and up. Trust me if I could afford to spend that kind of money, I would buy one. Lol. But, I was hoping some of you might know of some stores off or on-line that sell blankets made from natural materials that warm and soft and that are reasonabley priced. I would appreciate any help or suggestions. -Thank you ahead of time =)   (* I would like to help keep him warm at night so he could rest comfortably)

Awesome pictures Proudmom! Can you tell me what site did you found them on?

Thank you everyone for your posts. Through you, I can piece together what is going on for the most part. Even when I do get e-mails, my son doesn't always tell everything he can. He's always been that way, since he was little.. You would have to ask him questions to get the whole story.... Unless, the topic was about a video game....then what out! He could and would talk for hours. Lol.

I'm so happy for you ladies that were able to talk to your sons....or heard news about them via another loved one. I would be lying if I would say I'm not disappointed that I did not hear from my son. Who wouldn't be right? Lol. I guessing he has mandatory study and wasn't able to call/e-mail. Last time he wrote he mentioned how he was on the Dink list. Its his first time falling behind and he hates it. I just hoping and praying he gets to were he needs to be on his Quals...ASAP! Especially, if they stay in port for awhile. He mentioned being on the Dink list and being in port is the worst thing, because you cannot leave the boat. --I hope he catches up soon in his studies, for his sake. It would suck to miss out on going on land; plus, not to have liberty time!

I too am thankful Rebecca for this page and all the Navy groups i am on (FB). I dont know what i would do if i didnt have these groups to go into to read, vent, etc....no one, and i mean NO ONE else understands except for another Military mom. I even read some of these posts out-loud to my husband..lol...it feels relieving to know we are not alone in our worries..:) And to have THIS group, where all of our sons are LITERALLY in the same boat. is a big relief...looking forard to their safe/quick return..:)
