Not to worry Janlee, your not the only one with typos.  I just reread my post that I wrote last night. I was obviously reall tired to write; " my son may not gotten..."  I forgot to put in 'have'. Lol

I'm sorry ladies. I haven't been able to go on the N4m's site due to illness, so I'm a little behind on reading posts and participating. -Thank you Jeanne 778 for giving me an idea how long it may take for our boys to get care packages. I appreciate the information.  It is so wonderful that your son was able to receive his package quite promptly. We sent my son a package on Nov. 17th. Then we sent another through priorty mail on Dec 8th(We were told by the Post Office he should receive the package by Christmas. But, there are no guaranties in the Navy due to special ops.).  I have no idea whether or not, my son receive the first package we sent him. We have not heard from him, since Thanksgiving.  I would like to think if he did get a package that he would let us know via e-mail.....if possible.  It is so hard going day by day with no word from him....as I'm sure you ladies know.

-Just thinking that my son may not gotten his first package yet, makes my stomache sink.  I filled the first package with homebaked Christmas cookies. I hate to think he would get the package later on,only to find the cookies have gone stale...or worse.    *Just have to hope for the best.

Haven't heard from my son since last port of call.  Not even an email.  Don't know if he got the Halloween Card, Thanksgiving Card, Christmas Card or box of goodies.  Par for the course.  He is not big on emails to his Mom :-(   But I keep sending.  Merry Christmas everyone.

Hi everyone ! I have not been on here in a while. My son is on the Alex for his 2nd deployment . I too missed the meeting that took place on the 21st. I know we can't talk on any sites , but I wish I knew where they were headed! Our son should be making full lieutenant this month! Just pray that they are all safely zipping along in their steel tube!!! We sent 3 packages out right after hurricane sandy hit . I am hoping they will be waiting for our son at the next port. Stay strong all you other navy moms out there! And by the way the packags are not held hostage based on  their performance. It is just luck if your packages get to the next port of call before or when the boat does. If the package is there then the sailor gets it.Last deployment we sent 4 packages at different times and our son got all of them when he got back to Groton!!! Crazy! Don't send glass...and bubble wrap even home items like cookies!

Thank you everybody for your posts...

As of yet, I haven't received any e-mails since Thanksgiving. I sent one package a little before Thanksgiving and the last one yesterday through priority mail. The Lady at the post office said it had a better chance getting to him by Christmas through priority mail. I sure do hope he does get it on time...but I'm not counting on it. Lol.

Proudmom- I glad to hear that you have heard from your son and that he received his Christmas package. If you don't mind, I would like to know how and when your son received his package, too?

*Does anyone know if they just hand out the packages that arrive to the boat? Or are the package withheld and given out as a 'reward' when a submariner does something well?

Jeanne 778- I'm sorry your package didn't get to your son safe and sound. I'm sure, it was disheartening to find out your 'gift' to your son was partly damaged. It makes you wonder why people don't have the heart to handle packages with care.

It's snowing like crazy here in MN & the lakes are starting to freeze over. My sailor loves ice fishing. Too bad he'll miss out this year. I haven't heard from him yet about his package. I sent mine on the last day.
