Thank you Gail for the information you posted. I know it does me a world of good to know that our e-mails are getting through. Just knowing the e-mail is going through has lifted my spirits. I was beginning to believe that they weren't, just because I haven't had a reply from my son in sometime.
Could you please tell me what is AFSG mtg? What does it stand for and what does it do. Thank you

Thank you 2000 LeaguesUnderTheSea. It is always nice to have some affermation of what is probably going on. I figure if all of us moms of USS Alexandria, haven't received an e-mail from our submariners...then most likely my guess is right. But, it doesn't make waiting for a letter or some news any easier. This is my son's first long deployment...and its new to me too. Which explains me being impaitent and anxious to a point.  Lol

The last e-mail I recieved was on the 2nd. Prior to that he sent me e-mails somewhat regularly so I'm sure you are right.

oops>  The sentence that starts with 'I'm communication with...etc. Is suppose to read * I'm guessing communication with....etc.  Sorry about the typo. =)

Just wondering, has anyone heard from their son recently?  My son only sent one e-mail and that was last month. It feels like it has been forever since I've heard from him.  I'm  communication with the boat has been suspended for the time being, do to the work of the crew.

I also heard that we would not be hearing from our sailors for a while.  But be sure to keep emailing them often.  What I do is in the subject line I number them, i.e. #1 from MOM, etc.  I also in the body date it with day of week, date, time.  That way when email is transmistted to the boat and the get a bunch at one time, they know the order to read them.  Just a tip my sailor has found handy.  As for holiday boxes...be sure they don't take up much room.  Storage is hard to come by.  Getting excited.  Headed to CT from CA soon to spend a few days with my DIL and Grandson.  My husband has not been there yet or met little William.  We will be driving from RI to NC.  2 weeks.  Step-son is getting married in NC in the Smokey Mt. area.  Should be pretty.  Hope all is well with everyone.

It doesn't take that long for a package to actually get "over there" like a couple of weeks, the real question is it depends on when they port.  They can only receive land mail and care packages when they port, so it will on depend on their mission and schedule.  So at this point I think it is anyones guess. The mailing of care packages does seems to go smoother if you use the 1st Priority one price shipping boxes you get from the post office. (they come in different sizes and are free you just have to ask for them.) Remember when you are sending packages that they don't have alot of room to store stuff.

Thank you Holly for asking the qustion of when to send Christmas gifts to our Submariner. This is my son's first deployment and first time he would be home around the Holidays. So the answer to your question is very pertinent to me also. Plus, I bet a lot of other "nubbies" to deployment.

I can relate Proudmom...I don't think anyone has heard much from their submariner on the USS Alexandria. So far, I've only recieved one e-mail from my son and he didn't say much.In the past, while he was underway he more in contact. This is my son's first deployment though. So this is a new experience for both of us...so to speak. Everyday I check my e-mail hoping to hear for him.(I'm sure I'm not alone on hoping to hear from our loveones daily. lol)  It's through everyone at N4M's that I don't feel alone, and find support. Sorry for rambling everyone.
