@Ginny__K'sProudMom- There are only "rumors" at the moment, nothing has been confirmed, but without saying too much they will be leaving sooner than expected as of right now. We'll know more when they're back in port soon. The sooner they leave, the sooner they can come home though.
Thanks everyone ! He is feeling somewhat better, still no diagnosis yet. He was extremely disappointed on being off the Alex, he took real pride in being on the Alex and what he did! He is now working at squardant (sp) in there weapons division. He has ALOT less stress, so I feel that is also helping to improve his health and his recovery. Hope everyone has a great Labor Day!
Oh no Tammy....I am so sorry to hear this about your son. I sure hope they figure out what is going on. Stay strong.
Tammy, that is very disappointing news to be sure. I hope they figure out what is going on with him health wise. In the mean time, he is blessed with a great family and support group. Hang in there.
Well friends, received news today that my sailor is now officially off the Alex. They are still waiting, testing for a final diagnosis of his medical condition, so he is on medical hold for now. So no deployment for us. Things are really up in the air right now as to his job in the navy and what he will do to finish out his contract - or if it will be a medical discharge. Alot of things still figure out - plus paperwork processing and all that red tape. We have mix feelings and emotions about all of this! God Bless all of you and thanks for always being there.
Navygf15, having an amazing support system around you if you can is important too. I'm actually the girlfriend of proudmom's son and her and her family are the greatest! I do not know what I would do without the support of her and my own family. Emailing daily is a promise I have made to him, and he says that is the greatest part of his day every day he's out. I'm always here for support if you're ever just having an off day. We all have them, they're going to happen, but the next day will always get better, and you'll be one day closer. :)
My Sailor/son goes back to the GI specialist tomorrow. Hope and praying for a final diagnosis and a treatment plan to get him feeling better, without pain and back to himself. As of now he is still being left behind - until they figure how his medical problem.
Welcome to the Alex family NavyGF15! This will be my sons second deployment, the first one he was single and he is now married with a 7 month old baby. I know the feeling that you are going through, we go through those as moms too. The best is the try to stay positive and upbeat for your sailor. If you are sad and depressed think how he is feeling. Emails are the key - when my son was single he requested that I emailed him daily - just about little stuff like what was going on with the family and things back home. Also send care packages, he will be able to call and skype at ports. It actually does go by fast! Also if you live in the Groton area - get involve with the Alex Family Group. They have alot of activities and it is a great way to meet others that are in the same "boat" as you! And we are always here to talk with. Let us know if we can help. I'm in Kansas and My daughter in law and grandson are going to come live with us during deployment. Keep in touch with us Moms! :)
@Tammy....I'm so sorry to hear about your son and health issues. I will keep him and your family in my prayers. Wow, that is stressful for sure. Please keep us informed. I too enjoy this page.
@Gail....so good to hear from you. You have been busy! Thanks for getting us caught up. Hopefully this note finds your Mom doing well. Good for them (Mom and Dad) still making it on their own. Just celebrated my Mom's 88th birthday and she is doing just great.
Enjoy the rest of the summer days everyone.
Hi Everyone! Karyn, I understand the need for skype date with the grandson, it is hard to be thousands miles away from those grandbabies!! I am lucky to be able to see mine about every 2 or 3 months. DIL and grandson was suppose to come stay with us during deployment, however, our sailor is undergoing medical problems and deployment is questionable at this time. Without going into full details, our sailor is not physically fit for sea at this time and is undergoing alot of tests and medical procedures to determine the diagnosis. He is still on the Alex command but at this time just not able to go out to sea with them. So we are all up in the air as to his health, and his job. A LOT of stress for all of us!!! And as most of you know it is very difficult to set thousands of miles away and not be able to do anything to help. Hope everyone is doing good, and I love keeping in touch with you all.
