I too am praying for those in Japan. Not only our sailors but all who live there. Exactly a year ago today we were in Yokosuka for 2 weeks. My step son was stationed on the USS George Washington and we went to visit. Felt 3 earthquakes while we were there. I feel so bad for all. Heard all sailors on GW were accounted for.
As for California....it is suppose to hit within the next few mintues. We are at low tide and it is only suppose to be 2-3 foot waves by the time it hits the SF area. So I would say by the time it hits San Diego area it should be minimal. Always good to be safe than sorry. They have closed schools in one town just because of using school for evacuation area to go to. I think we will be fine.
Sam chose to reenlist on Ellis Island because I took him to NYC for four days to celebrate his 14th birthday. It was Memorial Day weekend of 2000, the Intrepid had a ton of stuff going on, and we found our relatives on the wall on Ellis Island. This trip we are probably going to do a lot of walking, museums and good food as before. If I am a really good mom then he might wear his uniform (you know how delicious that feels!) And I may be privileged to meet a few more of his buddies. Thanks for your well wishes Karyn, and congratulations on raising one of the cream of the crop!
Congrats to him! That is pretty cool doing it on Ellis Island. My son reenlisted while they were deployed but have a wonderful time in the Big City ;)
I am headed to NYC to see Sam reenlist 4/8 on Ellis Island. He's doing it with a bunch of others- will I see anyone else there?
Happy Valentines Day ! My son must have planned ahead cuz I got a card :-)
