I have a question - that I'm not sure if anyone could answer, but here it goes.  On Christmas Day all the sailors that were on duty on our boat were single guys - yes, that was done on purpose so the married guys could have Christmas with there family. However, the galley is closed during stand down, all the restaurants in town were closed - and NO ONE arranged for food for these sailors on Christmas Day.  They did receive a wonderful Christmas dinner thanks to the local VFW - however, this was not planned and they did not know it was coming. Is this not something that our AFSG could not do - is to make sure those on duty during a holiday have a meal?  I realize I live 1500 miles away and can't do the cooking or anything - but it bothered me that they were left to eat Ramen Noodles or fend for themselves on Christmas day.

Merry Christmas everyone.  Mine had duty Christmas Eve but was home with his wife in time to open presents this morning.  I talked to him a few minutes ago.  Enjoy your holiday everyone :)

Gail, mine has duty tomorrow too!  I think he was lonely today - called home ALOT and talked about an hour at a time.  Just a little over a week and he'll be home.  But SOOOOO thankful he is stateside and I can talk to him daily!  After about the 2nd or 3rd phone call yesterday he said when I answered the phone "It is awesome that I can call anytime I want to!!"  Glad ya'll had a family celebration tonight.

Yay Holly!   Enjoy your time with your kids!  We enjoyed Paula - she is a sweet girl and we did get to meet your youngest sailor too.

Karyn - Our Christmas won't be till January 3rd.  Yes, we have at least got to see him and spend a total of 18 hours with him (counting sleeping time.... but I didn't stay awake and watch him sleep) haha.  But he won't be HOME till Jan. so we are waiting to do our Christmas till then.

I also got a PHONE call today too Gail, isn't it great to get to hear from them almost daily again!  I love it!  Tara and I hope to get our pictures downloaded tonight.

You ladies have me big smiles again this moring with your updates!  What a great story Tammy to be able to tell...gee remember the time we surprised you on the dock and you thought you were in trouble with an officer...lol    I pass on my congradulations to Diana and Drew also.  What an exciting few days it has been.  Love all the pictures.  I keep looking at them ;)

It will be a Merry Christmas for some of you.  Mine will be January 4th when my sailor makes it to California for a long awaited visit.

Hi everyone!!  We got back home about 30 minutes ago - at midnight!!  We had a great time - our Sailor was very Surprised!! He couldn't quite smiling!!  We did have to send Dory's son in after him - because he didn't see the need to hurry out.  But he played it off well that an officer needed him and was asking for him so it was still a surprised!!  Janice - Mike did a great job of keeping a surprise - Brandon kept saying "dude you lied to me"!  Haha!  He is a great young man and I gave him a hug for you!! He (Mike) did buy flowers for Brandon to give me - but Brandon didn't know why they were on his rack - and said he didn't need them so when he went back to change (he was top side) they were gone!  Sorry Mike, but thanks for the thought!!!

It was great to meet everyone this weekend!  And Welcome to Dory - we meet her and her daughter at the meet and greet and had a great time with them this weekend.

Amanda...what a great picture of your daughter!   I wish we could copy all those pictures to print out.  When I tried to clilck and copy to my computer it would not let me.  My DIL got some pictures but there are some here that I would love to have.  Any hints on how to do it?
