Holly, my son was in that situation for a little bit too, he finished his schooling and the boat was on an underway he was in the holding transition unit for almost a month - it is hard for them - because as my son put it to me, you don't really fit in anywhere. He ate most of his meals either out or cooked in the barracks. I totally understand what you are talking about - besides they are so anxious to meet the crew and get started on there quals and they are just stuck there.

Welcome drleeper. Gail, I have got a couple of emails this week. I know my son has been busy finishing up his fish - he is 1/2 an interview and setting before the board away, he is ready to be done!!! If I understand duty rotation right - it is every 3 days. My son already knows that he will be on duty on Christmas day and New Years Eve day. He said that he should be off on homecoming and the day after. He still doesn't know we are coming for homecoming. Hope he is surprised! My son's LPO does the duty rooster he said that he was trying to be fair and the ones that have been on the boat for the entire deployment would not have to be on duty, but I also know they have to have a certain number of qualified sailors on duty. - Or that was he plan at one point.

Congrats Holly. That is so neat that they both will be in Groton.

Congrats Holly on making it another boot camp and also to your new sailor. Glad they are both in Groton for awhile - it will make it a little easier. We are getting close and beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel on this cruise.

Yeah, and then a cruise the 1st week of January!! You should see my "vacation" folder on my email account. I hope I print the right tickets and hotel reservations for the right trip! haha. It did get confusing there for awhile with all the arrangements! But I think I have it all straight - plus I make lists for everything!

Amanda - Hope you and the girls continue to feel better each day!
