Hi everyone...I have not been on in a while...have recieved my invite and some emails from our son, but there was along stretch where we were not getting emails. looking forward to the homecoming and the meet and greet. Hope to meet some of you then!
Amanda...will the cookbook be available to purchase? If so when?
How are your little kindergarteners doing? My 1st graders are exhausting me, but they are really cute!

lol...the only way I know my emails have been sent to the boat is from the Navy email center sending me a note that changes were made. But when I check for what changes, I never find any difference in the email.

I have been getting regular emails again - and my son said "it was nice to once again receive emails on a regular bases." He did say that they email system was down there for awhile.

Janice...I think I would play that number! What are the odds that the two sailors would meet and click and their Moms knew each other too! Like Amanda said...just a little longer! I see 3 of my emails went thru finally.

I thought that was cool too.... seeing as how we "know" each other! :) Brandon said it will be cool to room with someone who he gets along with and likes to hang out with. His other roommates he has had have turned out to be life long friends - that he still keeps in contact with. That is probably what Brandon is thinking too - with Mike leaving in 6 months... Our daughter wants to move out there and her and Brandon will get a house together (she has all the furniture and stuff) so that time frame is about right. She has always wanted to live on the east coast and has a good lead on a job in Hartford (they said whenever she is ready and moves let them know)

Booked our hotel for Groton last night, booked the cruise today. I'm just a vacation planning fool right now! haha ... and I LOVE it!!

Karyn - we hope you get to attend one of these events someday too. I'm really looking forward to attending and meeting some Amanda and some of the others I talk to on here.

Janice - My email I got my son today - said that your son, Mike (right?) and my son is going to be roommates when they get back to base. Guess they have already got it approved.

I got mine too :) This is the first invitation I have gotten in the 11 years my sailor has been in. Some day (maybe the next deployment) I will get to attend one of these events. I am very excited for all of you.

Got my Homecoming invitation in the mail today! WooHoo!!! And I've about got the details worked out for the cruise, booking it tomorrow. I'm getting excited now!

Hope everyone is doing good .

Thanks Karyn, About 5 years ago we did our first cruise and my husband and son went kicking and screaming the whole way.... until we got on the ship and started the cruise. They LOVED it. Since then we have gone on one every year. It is the best family vacation you can take - and if you compare the prices to a "land vacation" it is also cheap. Carnival offers Military rates and a few times a year you can book up to 3 rooms at the Military rate. November happens to be one of those months - so I will book our cruise then.

Thanks Tammy. I love the idea of a family cruise. I am sure that down time will be much appreciated and enjoyed by your son. My husband and I have talked about doing a cruise. I did one about 30 years ago before Jimmy was born (wow, time does fly by! lol) and enjoyed the ship the best. Just being together will be great. Have fun.
