Thanks everyone for the prayers and well wishes for my Sister. She is doing ok and has a great attitude and spirit about it all.

Janice - I have already noticed the change in information, I have been contacted by email and phone in the last two weeks - and even after I had email the omnbudsman early in the deployment she never even emailed back. I'm sorry that she had to step down for personal reasons. But I think it is best for the boat families.

Hi Ladies! I'm in Arkansas helping out my sister - she just breast cancer and just had sugery on Monday. But wanted to stop in and say "HI" and I did get our tickets bought today to fly out for homecoming. I'm super excited! I just hope the days don't change - too much - but I know there is ALWAYS that chance, we will just deal with it if and when it happens. Amanda who is stepping in for co-chair for ombudsman - I have heard from a couple of different ladies from the boat - just curious.

Our group is small and posts may slow but we always will try to answer questions and be supportive! This is my son's second deployment with this boat. My DIL has been thru both deployments. She is there in CT and attends meetings.

Janice I understand! My son told me "No one knew the address and NOT to send a care package." Well, I had read different on here - so Amanda - was nice enough to give me the address and advise me want to send. So I sent a box anyway, and after his first package he was full of suggestions for "the next time". And I email everyday - per his request - I wrote a letter everyday while he was he boot camp, it really helps keep his spirits up and focused! I even send him (cut&paste) the stats and updates on his favorite College football team.

Our sailors know how to make us GREAT MOMS feel like a "bad mom" at times - when they are stationed so far away for us. lol That's ok - they know we love them!

I'm so excited for all of you. I know the feeling of being a bad mom! lol But now he has a wife who lives there and I don't have "that" feeling anymore. Just wish I lived closer so I could enjoy the experience at least once. But I believe he will be a lifer (11 years in so far) so maybe I will get that chance.

Holly - we are going out for homecoming to surprise our son. We felt awful that we weren't there for the send off picnic - he actually didn't invite us or tell us about it till like the day before. We felt like the worse parents that he had NO ONE there for him. So we said we would go for the homecoming. He knows none of this. He has never asked us to come for homecoming (probably because of when it is) and he has no clue we have even talked about coming - much less purchasing plane tickets. So we are excited. We haven't seen him seen the end of March which was his last leave after his schooling. I understand your feeling, I will try to take pictures and share with you of the sub and the homecoming.

One more question Amanda - are we allowed to take pictures of the boat coming in our sailor is on the line handling crew and would love to get a picture of them coming in. Are jeans (nice jeans) acceptable with a nice top/sweater with probably boots?
