OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Amanda - Thank you! You and Janice have both been helpful to email me and help me out with questions I've had. If you could give me the ombudsman email address that would be great. You can email me at tjvanderpool@cox.net

How do we get information/emails etc....? My son told me before he left that I would be getting calls and/or emails to keep me up to date on thing, he filled out the form and gave my email address and cell phone and home phone #, but I have yet to hear from anyone! Since I live in KS I wouldn't be able to attend monthly meetings but that does NOT mean that I am not a concern and supportive parent. We plan to come to the homecoming (whenever that is)
Since this is our first deployment we are clueless on how all of this works.

Janice - My sailor said he wasn't sure of the homecoming dates. I too am saving vacations dates for the homecoming - my sailor has no clue that we are going to try to come out - plan to surprise him. Could you email me with your info on the dates that you requested. Thanks. tjvanderpool@cox.net

It is exciting when you get your dolphins! Tell him to work hard and it will be well worth it :) I also looked at the web site for Ponte Winery. Nice :)

Yeah, that is what my husband keep saying. I know my son has been busy too with working and then working on his quals.

I haven't gotten one since Friday. My son has been real good to send one at least every other day. I'm having withdrawals. haha
