Janice. I have no idea what you are talking about. Have not heard anything about a ride on the sub. Can you clue me in. I'm here in California and am just a Mom and don't get the information from the Navy. My future daughter-in-law lives in CT with my son and she attends meetings but, again, have not heard.

Glad to have another Californian on board! I want to say it gets easier but, really, it doesn't. You just learn to cope with it and pass the time and before you know it...you will get to talk to your son. My son's first sub had no email whatsoever. At least the Alex has the capability. Don't know if all sailors have access or not. Janeine...I take it this is your son's first sub? There is a submarine discussion board that I follow too. You might also check that out. With only 9 members on the Alex site, sometimes, we go for a while with no posts. But give us a shout out and we will try to answer. :)

Hi all...just got back from up north in California. My 84 year old mom had some surgery and I played nurse! LOL Phyllis I did not realize you lived on a military base. I understand how frustrating it is :) I'm trying to just live by....I'll talk to him whenever he calls and go about my business. Still tough tho.

I don't get anything since the one letter I spoke about. Steph does go to the meetings and is up to date. Nothing is forwarded via email or spoken about on the telephone. You have to read between the lines, if you get what I am saying. Thanks for the tip about summer. Looks like Jimmy will probably miss his grandmother and grandfathers memorial at the end of August.

So glad you had a wonderful time Janice. You did cover a lot of territory. Sounds like a great visit.

I'm with you about getting reports. I thought I had signed up for them as I got the letter from the Captain when they came back from deployment. But have not heard anything about anything. Rightfully so, (so don't get me wrong) my son and Steph are very closed mouth. I was just told not to plan on coming out this summer afterall. :(

YAY for cheap tickets! Flying is the only way to go for me! I did check "last minute" ticket for me on Southwest to go to CT....$700 plus. I so want to move to the East Coast! LOL

Gail...at least you got to be on the pier. This time Jimmy did not have duty directly after pulling in but he did have to stay late. Stephanie actually went back home and waited for him to call.

Janice...I did get a phone call after the "hot shower"...which is OK! LOL

It has been over a year since I saw Jimmy and I really need to address the issue and suck it up and buy tickets even if expensive. Keep waiting for a decision from him as to if he gets to come home for his Grandmothers memorial and the end of August. His father's side is having a memorial for both Nanny and Papa combined. He is waiting for the leave to be approved, I think.

Anyway...again HAPPY 4TH OF JULY !!
