Nice to know we have each other thru this. My husband flew back to So. California this morning and the pic of him hugging his sailor goodbye brings tears to my eyes...I will leave Norfolk Saturday morning. My daughter-in-law is thinking of not watching the boat leave this 1st time. I understand her feelings but I sure hope she doesn't regret the decision. I wish I could be there but must get back...maybe next time. I am a picture freak also. My son found me a scrapbook at the nex that looks like their camo's. It even has a name patch I can have embroidered with his last name. Thought it was so sweet of him!

We are here in Norfolk now. Having a great time. Hubby is here for the first time as is sailors sister and niece so extra special sendoff! It's always such an eye opener to go on the boat and see where they are going to live and work! This is sailors first deployment and his new wife will be holding down the fort while he's gone...it's an emotional time!

Navy mom...our sailor was put on the boat a few months ago when they were in Florida. Being new he thought we could come to the base with ID and see him come home. Ombudsman told me who to talk to to see him arrive but since he hadn't given them certain information they required I wasn't able to be there. I suppose he will know more this time. Any advice? The office had said he would need to turn in our birthrates, drivers licenses and social security numbers ahead of time???

Sharlene...really they don't/aren't suppose to give specific times. Security stuff. We r heading Norfolk next week to see r son prior to deployment but we don't have the exact dates...

When a ship is deployed, how do we find out when it will be back into port?  We would like to be there when our son's ship comes back if at all possible.
