Hi Anna. I wish that's how it is but it isn't. I dont even remember which ship my sailor was on at BC. You probably wouldn't want him on it right now anyway lol...the handled some pirate issues in the Sea of Aden recently and landed in Israel yesterday. And the ship is based in Norfolk. Good luck to your recruit and family!

Question for you guys. My sailor is only in RTC at the moment, but his division on on ship 04 which is USS Arleigh Burke , does this have any relation to possibly being stationed later here, in Arlington?

We sure understand arknavymom. First deployment for us too! Asked sailors wife if she was hearing from him. She said they messages each other this am and only twice last week. They are really really busy. I got an email over a week ago. Happy birthday to your son! Our sons birthday was on Feb 20th....

Haven't heard from our son in about a week or two, who is onboard on this deployment.  His 20th birthday is April 7, hoping to hear from him.  Sending him a birthday care package in the AM.  I'm a first time Sailor's mom and still not getting used to not hearing from him on a regular basis. Praying they are all doing well.  Really appreciate this group!

Hi RR...haven't heard anything personally in 4 or 5 days. I know my husband got a response to an email 2 days ago.  All appeared well. I believe FB has been shut done pretty much at this time.  He said he would call us if possible from the next port but didn't know where or when that would be. :(

Thanks for all the great information.  I have sent an e-mail to Brianne.   Also, that is pretty cool about your son and my son having the same birthdays.  Have you heard anything else yet.  For some reason, my is not sending any emails, calls or facebook messages.  Hope you are having good week!  Nice to know that someone is going through the same.

Hi RR...our sailors birthdays are the same day! Mine was 24! Small world. My son also posted a week or so ago that he had taken his advancement test to go from CTT3 to CTT2. We are just keeping our fingers crossed. I did get an email from him this morning...brief but says all is well, it is hot and muggy where they are and he will try to call at his next port...he couldn't tell us where that is anyway but he says he doesn't know at this time either. The omsbudsman's name is Brianne Kingery and she sends out general information on the boat occasionally as well as information of things for the families in Virginia. You can get on her list for emails...contact her at ddg51ombudsman@yahoo.com. She will also give you a direct phone number to reach her at if you have any other questions!
