So my son is heading to USS Ashland after he finishes A School. Is anybody still here in this group?
Yes I follow the Ashland facebook page also and have seen my daughter a few time-always a thrill to see her face!
Hello all, I see no one has posted on here in awhile. Our sailors are busy on Deployment as of this comment. They have been trying some things that have never been done on an LSD before which is kinda cool. They do have pictures on their face book page as you all probably know. My son has been over in Japan for a little over a year now. He loves the culture and his job. He just received an achievement medal as did some of his other ship mates. So just a bit more proud today. Check out the face book page for recent pictures of all our sailors aboard the USS Ashland serving and making us proud
Thanks Mamma Marsha. So far, so good. She had to get a different phone, but now has internet so we have been able to talk. She's waiting for the ship to come back from the Philippines, and is very happy.
Welcome Janai'smom my Sailor has been in Japan (The Ashland) since July 20 and loves his job as HT and he is also Flight deck crew.
Hi percussionvalentine, my daughter will be a Hull Technician (HT). I'm already on the facebook page for the Ashland, I'll look into the one for the US 7th Fleet as well, and the Ombudsman page. The more information I can get, the better I am (aren't we all?). Once they are on board the ship, how is the communicaton? How is your son doing? Is he enjoying Japan?
Hi Moms, I'm new to this group. My daughter is departing on Dec. 2nd from Sacramento to board the USS Ashland. She's a bit nervous, this is her first tour. She graduated from A School in GL about a month ago as a HT. I'd love to have some new friends to share this experience with, this site sure was a godsend for me while she was at BC.
Hello all........ my sons PIR date was 2-1-13 and he went directly to the Tortuga now on the USS Ashland. He is busy learning his job every day as he went in undesignated so he could make a choice about his job before jumping in to the unknown, He is in damage control any other moms out there or dads with son's on the Ashland in damage control. Maybe chat sometime?
