There is a great article in the publication Stars and Stripes about the hull swap with the USS Tortuga. www.stripes.com
Official Facebook page for the ship is USS Ashland (LSD 48) It says on it the official ship page. Any one can set up a Facebook page remember so be careful and look for the official statement. Newsfrom this Facebook account will be the most official you can get.
I miss my sailor already. They just left earlier! Thanks for support about USS Ashland LSD 48!
I think my son means message him on his Facebook page not the USS Ashland's message page
USS Ashland's Facebook page and a phone call from my son documents that the Ashland is leaving port as I am writing this comment. Son says communicate by email or messages on Facebook??? We have discussed the proper mailing address below an previous comments. The Family Readiness Group can help problem solve emergency. USSAshlandfrg@yahoo.com (this is a civilian family members group organized to coordinate with family and navy. They have a meeting with families at Norfolk before the ship sails. If you wish to serve with them send them an email.
There is a Family Readiness Group for the USS Ashland to help families get ready for deployment. contact USSAshlandfrg@yahoo.com for info This is not a USN group; it is family run and a very supportive contact by email.
put "hull swap between two ships" in your browser or Google or Bing and it will tell you in detail what our sailors will be doing. Interesting read.
I do not think the hull swap has anything to do with the Facebook pages. To me it is as if you are asking "If two boys are exchanging automobiles will their phone numbers change?"I do think our sailors are safe and will be starting an adventure soon. I am not worried. For communication options scroll down to my two emails written on June 18, 2012 for written and email info.
Anyone please inbox me any new info on USS Ashland LSD-48. My son leaving out Thursday June 27. I sure miss my baby and so proud of him!
