Do you have a Sailor on the USS Barry?

My son just met up with the Barry a couple of days ago. I haven't seen anyone else say whether or not their Sailor was on the Barry, so upon the advise a good N4M friend, I decided to start a group! Hope there's more Mom's out there that their Sailors call the Barry 'home'.

It's my understanding there was an engine leak that had to be repaired & back to port they went. After that, I guess they'll be on their way for a bit.

MARCIA

We're in Delaware - the small wonder -- pretty much born & raised here (as is my sailor!)

Hello other Barry moms. My sailor is a hull tech/fireman and we are oh so very proud of him! It's difficult when we don't hear from him for awhile, and he can't dicuss certain things, but the phone calls/emails are the best and I look forward to getting more! Hoping JC will be home at Xmas this year.

Marcia,

Was checking out this group to familiarize myself with it and I saw a comment you made regarding your son being a fireman. My son has talked about his fire gear -- think our sons may know each other? From the webs and info from Josh, the crew isn't that large.

Hello Marcia

I'm a new member and my son Josh is a sailor on the USS Barry. I was hoping to chat with some other moms with sailors on this ship.

Dubbie, I checked the Barry site, and the 933 was the ship before the 52. I think you will enjoy reading the history on their home page.

HI, Dubbie. The Barry has a website- just google USS Barry and it will come up. On the homepage is the history of the ship, so you can find out there. Good for your son.

Hi ladies, i came a cross this site for the USS Barry.I see that is DDG 52, my stepdad was on the USS Barry 933.....is this the same...I don't know! My son is in the Navy now and is in A school for Master-At-Arms in Tx. His granddad would be so proudof him.(my dad passed away 4 years ago..the 4th of June). If this is the same, could you please let me know. If not...if there is a website that anyone knows of...I would love to know about it. Thanks for any information.

Hmm. Bet she knows our son.

They're in for a few days, anyway. Hope you get caught up on your talking.
