USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144
Latest Activity: Aug 25, 2019

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

haha a.mitchell i thought it was funny that after she posted all her crap she put: "this is from me, dont do anything to my husband" I kinda thought, if you have to ask them not to do anything to your husband you should know its not good to post!

Nothing to be concerned with. One lady said that there was a certain group of people that had some been told some very important info that was not shared with the rest of the families. The ship said there had been no changes to any info given to the families, but it was too late. Her comment started all kinds of drama! it was pretty heated at one point.

In case any of you haven't checked, there is an announcement from the PAO on the family site about the facebook page. I hate it that 1 person started some drama (agian) and not we all have to suffer! Here is is for anyone that is interested:

The Bataan Facebook page has been temporarily taken offline due to operational security violations. Page administrators will review all historical posts to ensure additional violations do not exist before the page is restored for viewing.

We apologize to the thousands of fans of the Bataan Facebook page, but any mention of the ship's schedule, even when it does not involve specific dates, on a non-secure website or social media site is a violation of operational security. Indications by individual users that they are in posession of a schedule or are aware of the schedule can make them a target, the ship a target, and can put the ship's mission at risk.

Thank you for your continued to support to the crew of USS Bataan (LHD 5).

Very Respectfully,

Senior Chief Sisti
Public Affairs Officer
USS Bataan (LHD 5)

Ladies I was brain storming, and i have an idea, I was thinking of recording a video and putting it on a memory card to send my son for his birthday, just all the family wishing him a happy birthday. What i'm wondering, since he has his laptop and a camera on it could he record himself and send the memory card back to me? It would be really nice to see him. What do you gals think?
