USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144
Latest Activity: Aug 25, 2019

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

I know flowers wilt & die.. But we have not heard a thing for over a week from our Sailor.... If I had my picture posted here, you would all see I do not have a need for any more food... LOL... Hope every one has a contact from their Sailors, if not today, soon...

Happy Mother's Day everyone!  Hope you all have a great day,  my son made my day,  I came home from the Mother's Day Banquet at our church and a beautiful flower arrangement and box of chocolates had been delivered while I was gone!!  Just made me cry.( tears of joy) .......I'm not a big Mother's Day fan, my mother is deceased and her birthday is May 8th, so it is usually a very sad day for me, (especially when her birthday falls on M.D.)

Happy Mother's Day to all of you out there!  My son received 6 of 7 packages sent his way after waiting over a month for any!  That is a wonderful Mother's Day gift.  I was blessed to get chocolate-covered strawberries and a plant from him -- how?  I only know that the UPS guy looked just as proud as I felt.  It was from my sailor.

I guess, I am a terrible Mother.... Have not sent one thing, but our Sailor has told me he/she needs and wants nothing.... Have cards at least to send... If any one online here knows about the Masonic Lodges across America...  They are donating free ATT calling cards for troops.... There are some guidelines, but once I told our head office here, of our Sailor being on the ship and an IS, she sent me a card to send for our Sailor's use while in a port... Check with your Masonic Lodge in your city to see if they are participating.... I am going to send it and if our Sailor cannot use it I will see that is given to someone who has not been able to make phone contact with family or friends... There may be someone aboard who has not had a conversation with a loved one... Take Care all & God Speed...
