USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144
Latest Activity: Aug 25, 2019

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

Just got an e-mail from my son, he received 2 of my carepackages and the belt i ordered for him from the nex, its weird how things get turned around, i ordered the belt i think 3 or 4 days after i ordered his uniforms he wanted, and he got the belt first and still hasn't got the uniforms. But at least he received some care packages thats been out there somewhere for a while.

MirandaNicole- I'm assuming you are the same Miranda Nicole that just posted a picture of an adorable baby boy on the Bataan's facebook! If so, CONGRATULATIONS!!!! He is a cutie!

LongIslandMom- I am assuming your comment is directed towards me since is said "our military isn't naive enough to think that killing him will change anything just yet." My comment was not intended to downgrade the accomplishment of our military. It is something to be proud of. It is a great thing for the entire country especially those who lost their lives or loved ones due to his actions.  I don't think anyone will ever forget what happened on 9/11. The man was a monster that deserved everything he got.

My comment was in response to someone saying they were scared about retaliation and what comes next. It was to reiterate that our military is great and prepared for whatever happens next. They are not going to let their guard down because of this.

I apologize if my original comment came off as unsupportive. I support our military 100%.

God Bless the USA and Go Navy!

Kellie... Thanks for the okay, as I have never seen the prayer before, I guess we really do live in the plains & sticks in NE. I am sure all of our Sailor's are very well and safe.... Ours was in his best mood ever in 2 months... Take Care all !

Regina S, I would like to copy your prayer to my FB page... If you do not have any objections? I will remove it if you don't want it posted... Our Sailor just called... First day time call in ever. Seemed a lot more calm as he has ever sounded before... Hope that means all is well... Take care all! God Speed to all of your Sailors!!

Yea, its a little scary, but our military isn't naive enough to think that killing him will change anything just yet. We need to stay vigilant, but still be proud of their accomplishment. I read a quote that said "Just because the lead singer is gone, doesn't mean the band can't play." I thought it was very fitting. But another news commentator did say it sends a message to the other terrorists that says if we can find your leader we can find you too! So I am saying extra prayers for our military and our country.

My son recieved 1 package out of 4 so far and thats not counting family members that have sent him mail.  Just pray that they all get something this week, sure helps those sailors and marines  to get a little something from home.
