USS Bataan LHD-5

Group for family members of Sailors who are on the USS Bataan (LHD-5)

Members: 144
Latest Activity: Aug 25, 2019

I decided to start this group to see who else may have a Sailor on this ship; or heading to this ship.

Granted, we may be a bit limited to what we can discuss openly online, but if nothing else, may be a good way to connect and network off-line as well.

Make sure to not disclose advance ship movements or other OPSEC issues.

My son is an FC2 on this ship.

How many of you are members of the Bataan's Facebook?? I find the comments by one of the ombudsmen to be infuriating! Is it just me??

Just got on Bataan FB and the ABS said there was no mail dropped into the water, it was just a rumor. I'm so relieved right now!! Ok ladies i'm headed camping for a few days, i will catch up when i get back. Now i can camp and not worry about that situation.

Oh No,  There were 4 boxes that I knew of that was sent to my son from family members.  I'll pray that not all of them went into the ocean.  BUMMER !!!

My son e-mailed me earlier and said a pallet of mail went into the ocean, I'm so upset right now, i bet the package i sent on the 25th or his calling cards were on there cause they have been sent out 3 weeks ago. I have confirmation numbers for his packages i don't know if that will help me know if they are missing? He even had me order him some uniforms, nwu's and dress whites, and its been 2 weeks since i ordered those, i just don't know!!!

We are headed on vacation for 4 days and I sure am gonna miss my Navy For Moms, but i need this break.

How's everyone today?

Got an email and call from my sailor. Said it was a VERY long day yesterday. He has changed his job for 90 days and now he stocks the food away when they get it. (i am sure there is a technical name for this, but i do not "speak navy" very well) He spend 9 hours in the ships freezer!!! he also said he had woke up at five and didnt get off work till around midnight!!! I felt so bad for him! hopefully things will calm down soon!

Sandra AM Mom- i can send emails as text its just the you just type in the phone number @vtext.com as the 'email address' if it is a verizon number and it will come to your phone.

siscarrie- what a small world. i saw on the bataan's face book there was a lady asking if anyone lived in east texas and there is some one from Lumberton on the ship as well. i thought that was a weird coincidence.
